Some simple RULES you should know:

- Ear Wax isn't Dirty.
- Don't use cotton buds to clean your ear.
- Take folic acid while you're pregnant esp. in the early stages.
- Examine your breasts after your period.
- Don't kiss babies.
- Don't wash the inside of ur vagina.
#ChiefRx
1. Ear wax is not dirt

Without it, your ear canal would become dry & prone to infection, hence, just leave it alone.

2. Using cotton buds just impacts it & may cause blockage.

The Ear cleanses itself.

The only thing that should enter your ear is your elbow 😒
3. It's important to take a 400mcg folic acid every day EVEN BEFORE you're pregnant and until you're 12-16 weeks pregnant.
Folic acid can help prevent BIRTH DEFECTS known as neural tube defects (such as spina bifida)
4. Your hormone levels fluctuate each month during your menstrual cycle, which causes changes in breast tissue. Swelling begins to decrease when your period starts.

The best time to perform a self-exam for breast awareness is usually the week after your period ends.
5. There are 2 types of herpes virus:

Oral herpes virus (HSV-1) & Genital herpes virus (HSV-2)
According to the CDC, more than half of the population carries the Oral herpes virus.
But babies under 3 months old are unable to fight off the virus & it can turn deadly very quickly.
Kissing them can easily make them prone to herpes especially since their immune system is not still fully developed.
6. The vagina is a self-cleaning organ & people don't need to clean it.
Regular DOUCHING is unnecessary. People can help keep the area clean & healthy by:
- Washing with clean water.
- using barrier methods eg CONDOM
- to reduce the risk of pregnancy & STIs with a sexual partner.

There's absolutely nothing like "TOILET INFECTION"

It's a misname for a group of conditions referred to as VAGINITIS, which result in itching & vaginal discharge

There are 3 major causes

Bacterial Vaginosis
Candidiasis
Trichomoniasis

NONE is contracted from the toilet

Thread Image
Some people will rant it started right after they used a public toilet but it usually starts long before that "toilet" is used and can be attributed to the vaginal practices of the owner.

I just saw someone advocating for Antiseptic soap to be used

Now this is how it goes down:
Your vagina has good bacteria living in it already, it's called Lactobacilli. That's what makes the vagina pH acidic of which is good for the vagina.

As long as these guys (good bacteria) are in charge, you are good. 🙂

Don’t take Antimalarial meds with Vit C. It can reduce their Potency

Don't take Cipro with Milk. It can reduce its absorption rate

Don’t take Iron supplements if you're SS. It can cause Iron Overload

Don’t take NSAIDs (Aspirin) if you're asthmatic. It can trigger an attack
Antimalarial drugs (ACT) contain a sesquiterpene lactone ring. These lactone ring usually carry out the antispasmodic action (ie kills the malaria Parasites).

So what happens when you take antioxidants eg (Vit C, Vit E, Fruits) with Antimalarial meds (ACT)?
The antioxidants destroys the lactone rings, making the Antimalarial Med less effective hence reducing its Potency.

This can lead to treatment failure, Malaria resistant Plasmodium, increase treatment cost, etc.

What is the negative impact if we do not get enough sleep?

Every night, almost everyone on the planet enters into a state of unconsciousness & paralysis.
But what is really happening inside the body when we drift off? And what's the impact if we don't get enough sleep?

1/cont..
Sleep is regulated by your circadian rhythm or body clock. Located in the brain. The body clock responds to light cues ramping up production of the hormone melatonin at night and switching it off when it senses light.

2/cont...
There are 4 stages of sleep that the body experiences and cycles throughout the night.
On a good night, we cycle through these stages four or five times. Stages 1 & 2 are light sleep. This is a transition from being awake to falling asleep.
