You know, when I see Ukrainians successfully using ATGM armed dune buggies against the tank heavy Russian Army.👇

It makes me think the US Army really graded the 1980's era 9th High Technology Test Bed Division on an unrealistically steep curve.🤨🤔🙄

Here is a list 'o files from the site:

And this seems to be a US Army official report on the life of the 9th ID as a test bed

This will be a short thread 🧵 about using casualty rates to evaluate news reports with a recent UK Daily News Article that quoted a Telegram post as my example.

1/5
dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1…
There is a big problem with the Telegram report the UK Daily Mail is using and this paragraph is why:

"The channel said Putin had been told the Russian death toll from his war now tops 60,400, including 48,745 from the regular forces, 2,366 from the country’s...

2/5
...national guard, and 13,494 from Wagner and other private military companies."

Even assuming a staggering one to one killed to wounded ratio for Wagner et al, that is a minimum of 27,000 bodies going through PMC's in six months.

@noclador @smcela If you have DSMAC & TERCOM you don't need GPS. Ukraine was where the USSR was building those technologies in the late 1980's.

Ukraine also built the KAB-500/1500Kr series DSMAC/DAMASK style technology terminal seekers for GBUs.

1/
@noclador @smcela This link has a good example is the original DSMAC tech:

2/
@noclador @smcela About 19 years ago the precision DAMASK JDAM seeker fit into a nosecone and a board of electronics, using COTS hardware like a thermal imager borrowed from a Cadillac limo.

General question:

Has anyone seen photos of any Russian Army trucks in Ukraine pulling trailers like this?

These are simulated Kamaz 5320 plus trailer/trailers for reference.

Red Army logistics in East Germany used a lot of truck-trailers. I've seen none inside Ukraine.
1/
These sorts of trailers are critical 'logistical enablers' as they double the payload per truck lift movement.

For reference, this is a US Army FMTV M1084 5-ton truck w/crane & M1095 5-ton trailer combination carrying a truck power pack on the trailer & 55-gallon drums.
2/
If you are serious about expanding your truck lift logistics quickly in a war, you add trailers.

Trailers last decades longer than trucks and are a whole lot easier to resurrect from pilfered reserve stocks.

They are also much easier to fabricate than a truck.

I'm going to do a thread 🧵on Russian casualties using this video tweet below, (H/T @cvvhrn)

Watch the video, stop it at four seconds and look at the stretcher casualties.

What don't you 👀there

1/
Hint:

Look for the feet on the stretcher case Russian casualties in this video still at 00:04.

2/
Here is another hint about what is missing:

Ukraine signed the Ottawa Treaty banning anti-personnel landmines and destroyed it's AP land mine stock in the mid 2000's.

The only AP landmines in Ukraine have been put there by Russians. So no 'toe poppers' to wound Russians.

An accurate one line description on how badly the Washington DC based intelligence community got the Russo-Ukrainian War wrong.👇

This wasn't a problem of funding or spy tools. This was senior level cognitive bias analysis problems going deeply into the realm of incompetence
1/6
This is a systemic problem with how post Cold War IC works, as it is "optimisation designed" for the global war on terror & not for peer competitor conflicts.

We are reaping the 21st century price of former CIA director & Sec. Def. Gates' "next-war-itis" obsession.🤦‍♂️🤦‍♀️🤢
2/6
Historically, the way US Federal government fixes the problem of dysfunctional government bureaucracies is to create a new one to do the job the old one can't.

Then ruthlessly cut the budget of the dysfunctional bureaucracy.

The USA can't do this any longer with the IC.

@ChrisO_wiki has done several threads translating passages of Russian VDV soldier Pavel Filatyev. (photo)

@LIM49Spartan has followed up in getting the document, doing a OCR scan and putting it up on his web site here:

This is @LIM49Spartan introduction at the link:

"This was found on Twitter through ChrisO (@ChrisO_wiki) who popularized it. He (ChrisO) also helpfully provided a link to the original document on VK.com. I took the liberty of downloading it and OCRing it so

...that we can use our browser translate to follow Pavel's writing."

You can view the site through the Google search engine and it will translate the Russian to English for you
