🐻: For a lot of people who are living away from their hometown, the thing they miss the most is food from their hometown! It may not be anything too spectacular, but always lives in our hearts. What’s everyone’s hometown dish you miss the most?
Now playing “My Day Is Full Of You” by ZICO, WENDY
Is the audio super crunchy for anyone else or just me 🤨
🐻: A lot people will miss food made by their mom & dad the most! The food I miss the most is our hometown beef noodles~ haha I’ve said it on the program before, but it’s amazing I miss it even before my parents’ cooking 😆
~Today’s TMI~
OP tried bungee jumping and was a bit scared but got some courage after watching WayV’s contents and wanted to experience the freeing feeling in the air that Kun described. OP listened to Dream Launch before they went bungee jumping and thanked them for courage
🐻: although I often say that (these activities) have a freeing feeling…that’s for me 😂 no need to go try these out just because I said it haha just do what’s right for you! If you want to try it then go ahead but don’t force yourself/overdo it~
~Moonlight Cinema w/ Zhuama~
They’re talking about zhuama’s hometown (Jiangsu province). zhuama said they had to write essays about their hometowns and this next convo hELPP dkfjlsdkfd +
🐻: I quite likes the distinguishing characteristics of Jiangsu (zhuama’s hometown) though!
👩🏻: oh…are they…beautiful women?
🐻: are you…praising yourself right now?
👩🏻: no I’m just telling you our distinguishing characteristics 😂
🐻: oh…okay 😆
Kun said Fujian is known for the landscapes and zhuama talked about some food she’s tried before and Kun asked if she thought it tastes different from the ones she’s tried elsewhere
Today’s movie is “Flavors of Youth” (2018) which was recommended by a listener!
Zhuama said there are some things in the movie like eating breakfast which will make her nostalgic for her childhood
🐻: when I was little I always ate breakfast at the snack stores downstairs from my house! People from every country eat breakfast, but it’s just the +
+ method/style that might be different. For example, in China sometimes we’ll eat bread and milk, sometimes going to snack bars to eat a bowl of chicken noodle soup, but I realized in Korea lots of ppl eat rice for breakfast! I wasn’t used to it at first when I came to Korea +
+ because I thought it might be too much for breakfast, but now I’m used to it!
Now they’re talking about Attack on Titan
🐻: did u watch/read it?
👩🏻: I finished all the mangas and I think next year the anime is concluding…but the manga was a bit disappointing idk if the anime will be the same
🐻: no spoilers! I haven’t watched the latest
👩🏻: I hope the anime will change it up :’)))
🐻: usually they’ll follow the manga though right?
👩🏻: yes, but the manga ending has already been criticized by so many ppl if they still end it that way in the anime will people still look forward to it? :(
Zhuama said this movie really makes you want to eat
🐻: honestly speaking, a lot of food in animes look super delicious
👩🏻: right and sometimes when I see characters eating something I’ll be like “Ah I really want to eat that too” and then go order the same 😂
🐻: sometimes when I’m watching variety shows like Luo PD’s variety shows, they’re centered around food & eating and so every time I watch it…and it’s also in the middle of the night…so I really want to eat it 🥲 but I can’t order anything (bc nothing is open at that time)
They’re talking about hometown foods/dishes again and zhuama said there’s a noodle shop in her hometown she always has to go back to eat at
🐻: me too! I always say I love eating our hometown beef noodles the most because that store has been open since I was little to now +
+ including this small shop downstairs that has been open since I was in elementary school so I’d go there to eat breakfast every morning. They knew my parents so I’d just put it on the tab and they’d go and pay once a month
👩🏻: ahh yes especially back then if it was a small town where everyone knew each other it’s doable, but in chain restaurants now…not so much haha
🐻: When I go back now they (shop owners) can still recognize me! Even though I look quite different from back then they can still recognize me~ It’s in the same exact spot as it was back then. They never moved!
👩🏻: ah I think old stores that can last so long are quite impressive
+ especially with how fast the times are changing. In the movie, they talked about how the old rice noodles shop eventually closed because they couldn’t keep up with the changing times. So I’m quite nostalgic for (shops) like these~
This is making me so soft 🥹 imagine being the shop owners and kun comes to your restaurant time every day since he was a little child so you get to watch him grow up…and achieve his dreams…and he still comes to eat at ur store when he visits home :’))))
Zhuama was talking about one of the characters in the film and how their industry seems really hard as they have to navigate some difficult things and have to put in a lot of work behind the scenes
👩🏻: haha do you resonate with that?
🐻: hahaha well I think no industry is easy - as a singer/artist, they say “1 minute onstage, 10 years of practice”. Most ppl see those moments in the spotlight, but there’s a lot of hard work and practice behind the scenes that most don’t see!
Zhuama and Kun were talking about the difficulties of working in another country
👩🏻: if you’re by yourself even if it’s going smoothly it’s quite lonely
🐻: I think the biggest difficulty at first is the language! Although you can listen and speak a bit, it’s nowhere near the +
+ the level of native speakers here. So there’s a lot of things you want to express but can’t. Even though I’ve been in korea for 7-8 years already, there are still times when I can’t express what I want 100% so I’ll feel quite sad
👩🏻: what do you do in that sitaution? Do you +
+ just let it go or try to find some way to express it?
🐻: depends on the situation! Sometimes I’m like “ah it’s ok whatever” 😆
👩🏻: what if it’s something important for work?
🐻: then find the translation/translator haha
👩🏻: or do you use mandarin more?
🐻: noo most of our staff are korean, but most of them are bilingual so they’re pretty good at both Korean and Mandarin so it’s all good!
There’s a part in the film Zhuama said reminded her of her childhood days because they were able to choose which schools they went to, so she ended up getting separated from her friends sometimes and said it was very sad and that she doesn’t rly keep in touch with any elementary+
+ school classmates/friends, but thinking back now she had some really good friends in elementary school but are no longer in touch
🐻: ah something fortunate for me is I have quite a few friends who have been with me since elementary school or a few even from kindergarten!
🐻: we were all in the same class from all the way back then to throughout middle & high school
👩🏻: wah~ that’s so nice! I only have one friend like that and I even attended her wedding and everything
👩🏻: another nostalgic thing in this film are cassette tapes! Did you have them when you were little?
🐻: *joking* I’ve never heard of cassette tapes! What are those, zhuama jiejie? 😆
👩🏻: *playing along* so there’s this thing from back then called cassette tapes that you could +
+ listen to music on both sides and even record sounds!
🐻: *still joking* ohhh it can even record??
👩🏻: it’s amazing!! You can buy a Walkman and play songs on it. In a cassette tape there are ta-
🐻: what even is a cassette tape?? I still dont know 😆
(T/N: PLS HE’S SO- KDFJSKD)
Zhuama said when she was little she’d record songs she liked on TV onto a cassette tape
🐻: when I was little I went to buy cassette tape albums directly, but I don’t think I spent much time in the era of cassette tapes bc I only remember using it for a few years and then +
+ we all started using mp3 (players) instead. I remember the reason I had for buying cassette tapes was to learn/listen to english to go along w/ the textbooks and so I bought them haha
Zhuama asked if ‘00 liners and later ever used cassette tapes and Kun said probably not but he’s not too sure and was like “let’s stop talking about things that expose our age 😂”
🐻: our akseo program is nearing the end today! Lastly I’ll recommend a song I like, which is SM Classics TOWN Orchestra’s “Tree - Orchestra Version”. See you tomorrow~ bye bye!
T/N: oh wait I think zhuama said 复读机 not cassette tape…idk what the word for that is in english LOL google said “repeater machine(?)” but idk if that’s right 🤔
