/7 Hungary's State Audit Office published a report on "pink education" arguing that a dominance of women among teachers is causing demographic challenges and could put boys at a disadvantage in schools, @nepszava reports - THREAD nepszava.hu/3167260_allami…
/7 The study says 82% of schoolteachers are women and "female" traits such as emotional and social maturity, hard work, obedience, tolerance for monotony and verbal skills are more valued in schools than "male" traits like risk taking, math skills, a cnack for mechanics or logic
/7 The study says that male characteristics are "penalized" in schools, which causes boys to have psychological problems and will keep them from fulfilling their potential.
/7 They add that high-school leaving exams could also put girls at an advantage with subjects such as literature, languages and history with only one "boy" subject (maths). They argue that this could put boys at a disadvantage when applying for college
/7 The study adds that this fall 54.5% of college freshmen in Hungary will be women, and that the high number of women among college graduates can cause demographic problems as these women will have a harder time finding a life partner and their chances of having babies is lower
/7 The study says that male characteristics such as creativity, competitiveness and being goal-oriented are crucial both for the Hungarian economy and for the day-to-day life of men because they will need to be able to fix a broken computer or a leaking tap
/7 The study, which is based on the answers of 700 teachers and parents, recommends more studies to explore whether boys are at a disadvantage in the education system as "pink education" may cause harm to the economy and social mobility as well
