Here are some of my notes from todays @chainlink town hall featuring @SergeyNazarov , this is not in any particular order and it may not cover everything as it was filled with a lot of gems. #CCIP #DECO #Smartcon2022 $LINK

Sergey mentioned how cryptographic truth is changing the perception of value thus current and new applications will use chainlink as a building block when creating new decentralized applications. This inevitably makes chainlink become the standard while also making it a -

necessity instead of a luxury thus solidifying Chainlink’s position of becoming the main core computational resource for smart contracts. Valuable protocols cannot thrive without Chainlink, thus adding to the thesis of CL becoming/being the standard.

What is Chainlink focusing on? Sergey mentioned that him and the team are focusing on deploying more resources for more secure networks and more services.

What about Economics 2.0? This will be like a relaunch of Chainlink’s economics going into a production state in certain dimensions like user fees and cost reduction. As more users pay for greater security it becomes a sustainable economic system which enables a new period for-

growth. Applications will continuously need a secure form of trust minimized computation. Along with this big DeFi players are becoming more willing to pay more for enhanced security as their TVL increases amongst DeFi dApps. More TVL = more revenue which will flow into these-

players paying for enhanced security and computation and more value which inherently makes more value flow through the CL protocol.

What new services are coming? The team has been focusing and spending a lot of time on both CCIP and DECO. As far as CCIP Sergey mentioned that the goal is to not release a insecure bridge like many others have done in the past that have lead to hacks and loss of user funds.

Sergey adds to this comment by stating that the bridge/bridges that do provide the security that users need will ultimately end up having the most value flow into them. He also mentions that the team is working on getting a beta test net releases for CCIP for users to try out-

but again this process will not be rushed for obvious reasons.

The goal for CCIP is to make a messaging system to enable commands between both enterprise backends and blockchains for any topic and any purpose. Users will also be able to leverage different compute properties from multiple blockchains.

What about DECO? What the team is focusing on for DECO is privacy preserving properties for identity. The team has completed multiple POCs with more coming soon. The envisioned goal for DECO is for it to enable more enriched services like regulated DeFi while also being able to-

provide required identity data for access to certain markets and create a secure standard that allows identity data to come to applications. The goal is to be able to prove things happening off-chain without disclosing all events on-chain.

To close, CL is a leader in providing decentralized data to smart contracts and is already the standard oracle in the space. Even if more competition in the oracle space ramps up CL does way more than just data feeds. As many in the community have mentioned CL is blockchain-

agnostic and will continue to contribute to the growth of our industry🫡
