🐻: Sometimes maintaining a certain distance is important - for example, when admiring a painting, maintaining a distance from the painting is the only way you can you can appreciate it in its entirety
🐻: has anyone ever realized that sometimes the closer you are with someone, the easier it is to get into arguments? That’s because in some relationships, maintaining a certain distance is needed~
~Today’s TMI~
OP said although autumn is coming already, the summer hot weather hasn’t left us yet and told everyone to be careful of the high temps. OP won soda at an anniversary event and thought it was 12 bottles, but turns out it was 24 and said it was a sweet burden on +
+ their diet haha
🐻: that’s right haha during the summer everyone loves drinking cold refreshing beverages like this~ soda is rly sweet too, so you’ll be happy drinking it, but moderation is still important!
Next OP passed their test and within 164 people they placed 8th! OP said they’ve never gotten such a high score in their life and said many things caused the delay in this exam, but finally were able to see the outcome of their hard work and also cried when they saw the +
+ acceptance of their interview
Kun told everyone who has exams recently to come and praise the exam god (OP) so that they can share this good luck with everyone so they’ll do well on their exams too 😆
~New KPOP w/ LaiLai~
🐻: we had an OP just now who said they won 2 cases of soda
🎵: oh yes I heard 😂
🐻: do you have any similar experiences of winning prizes?
🎵: my luck of winning things is rly bad 😅 so I don’t like playing lottery games or ones that have to do with luck
🐻: let me tell you…lots of games recently like using the lottery method
🎵: I can only start winning after everyone else has alrdy won big prizes :’)))
🐻: I think I don’t have much luck with lottery games either 🥲
🐻: the one and only time I was lucky was when I was little where there was a “get 1 bottle free” prize and I got 4 in a row. I got 4 drinks with the price of 1 haha 😆
[1st song: “After LIKE” by IVE]
🐻: oh- they came back again??
🎵: that’s right!
This was recommended by a listener and talked about how this song has disco vibes sampling “I will survive” and showed a different beauty/side of IVE we haven’t seen before
LaiLai talked about how IVE comes back pretty much every 4 months and Kun said he remembered LaiLai talking about “Love Dive” last time. LL talked about how the theme of being confident in expressing yourself to the person you like continues in this song
Kun talked about how in the MV all sorts of cameras show up in the scenes so it looks like they’re being filmed and LaiLai said it fits with the theme/message of the song in that they know which angles they look best in, so the they strive to find their best version of themselves
[3rd song: “458” by CIX]
LaiLai talked about how this song starts with very emotional piano sounds and then a strong base comes in, and then the juxtaposition of these two sounds come together. There was no official explanation of what the title means, but LL said there’s a lot+
+ of fan theories as to why these numbers were used. He talked about a lot more, but one of the theories is that on an old phone keypad, you could type “ILU” (i love you) with those numbers
🐻: ah these are fan theories?? So clever 😆
[3rd song: “Pink Venom” by BLACKPINK]
Kun talked about the impressive MV views and LaiLai mentioned they broke a record of views w/in the first 24 hrs. LL also mentioned how the intro that incorporates traditional instruments was rly catch and pulls you in immediately
🎵: everyone can hear/experience the individual strengths of the members and there’s a lot of addicting melodies in the song to enjoy!
LaiLai talked about how the meaning of “pink venom” has like “beautiful but deadly”, “pretty but dangerous” themes
Kun also noted how black apples show up quite a few times in the MV and LL said it might remind ppl of the poisonous apple in Snow White except in this it’s black on the outside and pink on the inside, which is just like BLACKPINK in that they seem very strong and fierce +
+ on the outside, but there’s also a “pink-ness” and different colors/uniqueness within. Kun said these days when you watch MVs you have to think about a lot of different things (i.e. esp if there’s like a storyline to follow) 😆
[4th song: “Losing Game” by LEO (from VIXX)]
LaiLai talked about how this song is about the contradictions in a relationship and how to control the emotions, they channeled those emotions into this song. Kun and LL also talked about how LEO participated in the composition +
+ and lyrics in the songs in this album. LaiLai said after practices, whenever he had time LEO would write songs and lyrics little by little until he finished this album
🐻: wah…it’s definitely not easy! Like if you think about it, after a long day of work to find time to +
+ write songs you can tell he’s very hardworking
🎵: I can tell Kun can relate to this 😆
🐻: for a while I was the same, like after we filmed an MV I’d immediately rush to the studio to write songs and then we’d have a second day of shooting the next day - during the TBT era +
+ so I’ve experienced something similar and know how tired and exhausting it is!
🎵: right and for those who probably don’t have this experience, you can think of it as needing to read more books/write essays outside of your normal schoolwork
~New KPOP News~
1st News: KCON LA happened last week - not only watching performances, but attendees could experience other korean culture like food, cosmetics, etc.
🐻: ahh I see so outside of the performances there might be stalls and such with these items
🎵: that’s right! I hope people didn’t misunderstand that it happens simultaneously during the concert LOL
🐻: I saw NCT DREAM went as well! It looked really fun~ Also, seems like there’s a lot of “first time in 3 years” events lately!
🎵: yeahhh because of the p*ndemic, a lot of people were really passionate and excited for this, so in this 3-day event there were about 90,000 participants. In 2012 when they first started KCON, there were only about 10,000 people. It has expanded 9x since then!
2nd news: 2022 Korean Culture Academic Conference(?) (idk the actual name in eng but something similar in nature) and the KPOP competition show they held as a closing event. They invited 43 countries around the world to participate and judges from all over the world who +
+ are not only judges, but also fans of kpop and foreign korean language/culture professors. A France middle school teacher ended up winning 1st in the competition! It was a chance for those to participate in/show their hobbies outside of an academic setting
LaiLai asked if Kun had any experiences/thoughts to share about participating in a competition/audition
🐻: for me…it all went pretty smoothly! At the time I participated in an open audition in an auditorium filled with people. They stuck a number on us and brought us into +
+ the audition room in groups of 10. I remember at the time everyone didn’t have any backing instrumentals whether it was singing or dancing and you just did it. They went through us one by one and something funny was when it got to me, the judge jiejie was staring rly intently +
+ at me so I was really scared at the time haha 😅 Her expression was really strict. At the end, everyone except me was asked to leave. Then they had me film about 4 hours worth of video/recordings so I sang and danced everything I knew and showed all my skills because they +
+ need to see everything haha 😆 after that it all went pretty smoothly!
🎵: seems like that jiejie had a good eye (for talent)!
🐻: yes I’m very thankful to that jiejie~ After I debuted, I met that jiejie again in some company workshops
🎵: ah did you ask her about it?
🐻: although she’s probably not in charge of judging auditions anymore, seeing (her) she’s still very kind…she had a good eye for things~ 😆 (t/n: I think kun said 亲切 which has a lot of connotations ranging from kind, cordial, familiar so no too sure what in this context)
🐻: Our program is nearing the end today! Wishing everyone a happy weekend :D Lastly we’ll play WayV’s “Nectar”. See you Monday~ bye bye!

🐻: in life we’ll meet a lot of people, but there’s only one of ourselves, so accepting our true selves becomes very important. Accepting our imperfections is a goal we must work hard to strive for in our lives!

🐻: For a lot of people who are living away from their hometown, the thing they miss the most is food from their hometown! It may not be anything too spectacular, but always lives in our hearts. What’s everyone’s hometown dish you miss the most?

🐻: between people, the hardest thing is understanding. Actually, if we communicate properly we can avoid unnecessary troublesome things. Did everyone communicate well today?

🐻: a drop of paint in a cup of water will immediately change the water’s color, but with a drop of paint in the ocean the ocean will remain the same blue color. Bc the measurements of both are different, hope we can all be mutually understanding people of one another
