Unveiling the plan at an event just hours before the @FierteCapPride parade (not a coincidence) Min. @MarciIen highlights the ongoing discrimination/hate faced by the LGBTQ2S+ community.

Says she's been thinking a lot lately about how gov'ts can't legislate kindness or empathy.

"This is a whole-of-govt plan that will guide our ongoing work to fight discrimination, to break down barriers to advance rights & to build a future where everyone in Cda is truly free to be who they are," PMJT said.

"The resilience of your community should inspire everyone."

Some highlights:
-$75M (of $100M in Budget 2022) for community orgs
-$11.7M for 2SLGBTQI+ Secretariat to implement the plan
-$5.6M to develop awareness campaigns
-GoC will begin using 2SLGBTQI+ acronym

Re: Reference to the passed so-called conversion therapy ban in the plan, how many ppl have actually been charged?

No answer. I asked the Justice Dept. not long ago and they weren't aware of any charges laid, saying provinces are responsible for enforcing Criminal Code offences.

On my behalf, @Gray_Mackenzie asks the PM when the government is committing to have completed what it has promised in this plan, given the absence of concrete timelines beyond the pledge to spend the $100M in the next 5 years, Trudeau and Ien didn't offer a specific time frame.

"There's a lot in it, absolutely. A lot of it is very ambitious. But we also know, there is a lot more to do," PM said.

"We understand how important community is. We're not here to kind of be on high & say, 'here's what you need.' The community tells us what it needs," said Ien.
