How to get a pay rise? 📈💰

I know that "selling yourself" and speaking about money is difficult.

Here are 5 Tips to help you with that:🧵
1. Ask the right person at the right time

Never bypass your manager. They are the first person to convince. Make them your ally to negotiate with the top management.

Don’t wait until the end of the year, as the budget for rises will already be allocated!
2. Let others know you do good work!

Write a summary of your impact and your contribution to value creation. You can lean on it during your 1:1 with your manager.

Evidence of your successes will make the discussion easier.
3. Know what you want and what you’re worth

You need to clearly set out your desired rise, why you want it, and what’s your value on the market.

Start by asking your network, e.g., Twitter, colleagues, people you know, or friends in other companies.

Additionally...👇
4. Read salary reports to have a better understanding of the current market.

For example, @talent_io’s salary report is particularly interesting: join.talent.io/tech-salary-re…
5. If you want to know more about the do’s and don’ts when asking for a rise, I invite you to read this article: talent.io/p/fr-articles/…

Fun fact:
I once had to explain PCA in a job interview.

I failed…

Here’s what happened and one very important point about PCA you should remember: 🧵

1/n
I could correctly explain the concept behind PCA:

It is commonly used for dimensionality reduction by projecting each data point onto only the first few principal components.

Then the interviewer asked how these principal components are defined…

2/n
I could still remember that PCA basically boils down to an eigenvector/eigenvalues problem, but this was not what the interviewer wanted to hear…

He asked me if the principal components have to do something with minimization or maximization of the variance?

I got nervous…

Reinforcement Learning is a tough topic 🤖.

I tried to wrap it into a fun project and explain it in an easy way...

You will learn RL from scratch by implementing an AI that learns to play the Snake game 🐍.

Part 1: You'll learn the theory behind the Deep Q Learning algorithm:
Part 2: We implement the snake game using pygame:
