1. It's the 17th Anniversary of #HurricaneKatrina. Aug. 29, 2005. Below is a report from 2002. It warned that the Levees had only been built "to withstand a Category 3." Katrina was a Category 5. 1,833 died, and millions were displaced. Bush, cut the levee budget to pay for Iraq.
2. June 8, 2004: Walter Maestri, emergency management for Jefferson Parish, warned the Times-Picayune a year before Katrina: "It appears that the money has been moved in the president’s budget to handle homeland security and the war in Iraq. I suppose that’s the price we pay..."
3. Walter Maestri, from the June 8, 2004 interview continued, "Nobody locally is happy that the levees can’t be finished, and we are doing everything we can to make the case that this is a security issue for us." pbs.org/wgbh/pages/fro…
4. The Federal government and its agencies were lackadaisical in their response even as local and state officials and the public begged for aid. #HurricaneKatrina
5. Some residents born and raised in Louisiana became permanently displaced, and could not afford to stay in their home or community, and this led to mass gentrification, "Gentrification was more likely in neighborhoods that had worse physical damage.”
bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
6. Black women were disproportionally harmed and ignored by government officials when mapping out recovery policy. #HurricaneKatrina bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
7. By the way, Black women were the only group that polled in the majority against invading Iraq. Never doubt our political instincts. #HurricaneKatrina

1. Presidential Diaries, or Daily Schedules, on remarkable days of their presidency. Interesting, to say the least. Last days of President John F. Kennedy's Diary. "11:05 A.M. Departed Andrew Air Force Base for San Antonio, Texas."
2. From President Lyndon Baines Johnson's daily dairy:

11:49 AM President SIGNS Voting Rights Bill S.1564
3:29 PM LUNCH - alone.
(sitting at the table with him, though, were Bill Moyers, Horace Busby, Max Harry McPherson, Marvin Watson, Liz Carpenter, and Douglas Cater.)
3. President Richard M. Nixon, the day of the Watergate Break in.

9:10 AM The President had breakfast.
10:58 AM The President talked long distance with his Assistant, H. R. Haldeman.
8:00 PM The Presidential party saw the movie, "The Notorious Landlady." The President had breakfast. The President talked long dista

@davidhogg111 1. I’m starting to see David Hogg’s Twitter posts as an opportunity to educate. From the 1950s onward the Right Wing would solidify their political narratives and goals through the weaponization of white grievance and white supremacy. Democrats should obviously not emulate this.
@davidhogg111 2. While the modern Democratic party did not exist until after the signing of The Civil Rights Act (1964) and The Voting Rights Act (1965). The Republican Party, in its current Nationalistic iteration, has always existed in one form or another since the founding of this country.
@davidhogg111 3. The Modern Republican Party, in part, could trace its roots back to the anti-immigrant anti-emancipation, "Know Nothing Party" of the 1850s. In a letter dated August 24, 1855, to Joshua Fry Speed, President Abraham Lincoln wrote: I am not a Know-Nothing. That is certain. How could I be? H

1. Good to know the Forward Party doesn't have any policies or good analogies.

Clearly a cash grab. We have a plurality voting system at the Federal level, period. The Forward Party, like the Green Party, won't have enough infrastructure to win, but they can spoil elections.
2. It's also clear that @AndrewYang owes money for his presidential run. Can he raise money through Forward to eradicate that debt? I don't know, but maybe. Either way, shady AF. news.yahoo.com/federal-offici…
3. Since Forward was started by self-called Neocons, Republicans, and Conservative Independents, there's a small possibility they could pull from the GOP in some elections but if Independents start making it their home it could impact Dems which means The GOP will invest to spoil

1. I mean no disrespect to Rep. Bush, but every issue she listed in her "Repro Justice Action Plan" thread below, as she knows, is legislation a Democratic member of Congress already introduced. I say this to illustrate that the Justice Dems' plan, is already the Democrats' plan.
2.
Green check is Rep. Bush's point.
Blue Check is the Democrats' plan/legislation.
✅ End the filibuster & codify Roe
☑️We need at least two additional Democratic Senators.
Women's Health Protection Act (“Codify Roe”) already passed the House.
3.
✅ Expand the Court and enact term limits
☑️The Judiciary Act (intro by Rep. Mondaire Jones)
☑️The Supreme Court Term Limits Act (intro by Rep. Ro Khanna)
Dems can pass both with an expanded House/Senate.

Putin is conducting 2022 US midterm influence campaigns:

✔️Spread misinformation on social media to sow division to foment outrage, fear, and hostility.

✔️Voter suppression strategy designed to break the coalition among Democrats.

Don't fall for it. newsweek.com/vladimir-putin…
