The Future Role of Kuma: The Cobra Cipher

Since we learned that the Revolutionaries had successfully saved Kuma we have been wondering what his future role might be.

Kuma has played a mysterious role in Dragon's plan & we may be about to see that plan come to it's completion.

Kuma has been the test subject of Vegapunk's 'Pacifista Project'. A program created by the World Government to create a cybernetic clone army.

Through this program Kuma has ended up losing his free will. In a way, the Kuma everyone knew is dead.

So what could Kuma's future role be? If he has lost his former self then it must be through the cybernetics that he is able to help.

That leads us to the fact that Sabo just made contact on a seemingly unsecured line.

We know that the Revolutionary Army possess intercept blocking Den Den Mushi so it is strange that they are not using one.

If the line is unsecure then that makes it likely that the message will be encrypted

Encryption is the method of obscuring messages by changing the letters in to other letters or symbols according to a cipher.

One of the most famous examples in real life is the Enigma Code. Used by the German's in WW2 & cracked by the famous Alan Turing.

So if Sabo is sending a coded message then that would explain why he is using an unsecured line.

But what could the message be?

I believe that this is where things connect back to Cobra.

Cobra's mission at the Reverie was to question the Gorosei about the truth of the Poneglyphs.

He requested an audience with the Gorosei to ask these questions and shortly afterwards he was dead.

It is most likely that they killed him after telling him whatever they told him.

Professor Clover of Ohara as killed for asking exactly the same sort of questions. So the truth about Cobra's death is that it was most likely at the hands of CP0.

But before he died perhaps Cobra managed to pass on a message.

After learning the truth from the Gorosei, Cobra likely realised that they were going to kill him & quickly took measures to ensure the truth did not die with him.

This may be why Vivi suddenly disappeared. She took her father's message to someone.

As most people have already theorised, it is most likely that Vivi ended up with Sabo & they are now on the run together.

Cobra died but they were able to escape with the coded message & that is what Sabo will pass on to Dragon

While the Navy are scrambling to decipher the code, Dragon will be able to act on it immediately through Kuma.

Since Kuma is a cyborg he would be able to decipher a code just as a computer would. In fact the computer comes from the Turing Machine.

So Kuma's immediate future role is likely to be to solve this 'Cobra Cipher' & enable Dragon to receive Cobra's message. But what could the message be?

I believe that can be explained by looking at chapter 908 again.

The truth that Cobra learned & the message that he has sent to Dragon is that the World Government plan to commit another atrocity like they did in the past.

Cobra is warning Dragon.

The Great Cleansing is coming!

I believe that once Dragon gets this message he will take action & this will lead us in to Kuma's later future role & main role in the story.

In order to prevent the World Government from succeeding in their great cleansing once again. Dragon will activate counter measures.

These counter measures would be the reason that Dragon allowed Kuma to give himself up to the World Government in the first place.

To covertly sabotage the World Government's plan to build a clone army.

We have seen already that Vegapunk conspired with Kuma to allow him to program in a mission to save the Straw Hats.

We reasonably assume that Kuma did this on Dragon's directive but why did Vegapunk cooperate?

Well that ties us back to details about Vegapunk's past as well.

Vegapunk was once the leader of a group called MADS. This group was split up after they discovered the Lineage Factors.

Vegapunk was arrested & the MADS program was absorbed in to the Government.

Vegapunk has been captive ever since.

So it tracks that Vegapunk is not loyal to the World Government & would take measures to undermine them.

In fact it seems that Vegapunk is constantly undermining them by lying about his experiments.

Perhaps then the collaboration between Dragon, Kuma & Vegapunk goes further than just saving the Straw Hats at Saboady.

I believe it is possible that Dragon & Vegapunk created a flip switch that will turn the SSG Pacifistas against the World Government.

Oda has previously spoken about his love for Star Wars & I believe that in this way he would reference it.

If Dragon has a switch that he can command Vegapunk to flip in order to turn the Pacifista then that would be similar to 'Order 66' in Attack of the Clones.

I believe that Oda has been indirectly alluding to this through another organisation that connects to Vegapunk. Germa '66'.

It was through them that we learned that a clone army can be grown & controlled.

Bringing it all together. I believe that Kuma's future role is to crack the 'Cobra Cipher' & enable Dragon to get Cobra's warning that a new Great Cleansing is coming.

Dragon will then act & Kuma will be the one to contact Vegapunk & tell him to 'execute order 66'

Kuma's future role will be to prevent the Great Cleansing by starting the Pacifista Rebellion!

If Sabo is sending a coded message from Cobra then perhaps this is how he will get it across.

Some codes are done by replacing letters with numbers according to alphabetical order

So in this case. '9. 13. 21' would mean 'I. M. U.'
