Short refresher on the most advanced rollup stack - the Nitro Stack👇
Nitro is a massive upgrade. It enables the Arbitrum engine to be written & compiled in standard languages.

But what does this mean for YOU?

The Arbitrum team estimated a 20-50x increase in layer 2 execution speed.

Essentially the upgrade introduces a new stack that:

- Enables WASM fraud proofs
- Replaces the custom-built EVM with Geth
- Slims down and rewrites the Arb0s component in Go
Together, these major innovations create a familiar but extremely performant Ethereum experience for both developers & users:

- Increased Ethereum composability 🌐
- Improved cross-chain communication 🌉
- A new batching & compression system to minimize L1 costs 💸
And the cherry on top? 🍒

The upgrade was completely seamless for both devs & users!

Thats right - no migrating dApps or assets 👏
Hats off to the Arbitrum team on the upgrade! This is massive step forward & they’re just getting started.

2/ At the heart of Vertex is its design; namely, perpetual swaps and a virtual AMM (vAMM) model.

Both are highly optimized for on-chain FX markets & enable a number of #DeFi primitives, such as a multi-currency @anchor_protocol.
3/ Why perpetual swaps?

As mentioned, #DeFi liquidity is predominantly concentrated in USD stablecoins such as $UST.

Supporting one major base currency helps avoid fragmentation of liquidity pools, but limits non-USD stables from finding utility and adoption.
