So a question for all of you who definitely aren't my doctor:
When I pulled local bruiser kitty off Napoleon 3 weeks ago, he sunk his teeth deep into my arm.
Instantly my thumb went tingly. It's still functional, but always sore and a bit numb now. I assume that's permanent?
This is the bite location. It's mostly healed now and there was no obvious infection.
I've basically been assuming bruiser kitty got lucky and severed a nerve or something.
My thumb movement ISN'T inhibited, but it's just always a bit numb now and painful if I proper stretch it
I should add I got bitten in a bunch of places. So if it was infection I'd have assumed a more obvious reaction in healing, there or elsewhere.
And it CERTAINLY wouldn't have been an instant effect I think. Which it was.
Y'all need to calm down. Shit happened three weeks ago I'd be dead by now if kitty bacteria were going to murder me not boozing in Stockholm.
And infections don't have an instant effect. Which this did. 😆
Like, trust me. If I was going to die of an infected cat bite it would have been two weeks ago or something given the little fucker bit me in six separate places.
Those of you judging me for not yeeting myself immediately to A&E 1) have never been to Whipps Cross A&E 2) need to understand it was about 2hrs before Orient's first game of the season.
Okay so here is a slightly drunken story. Because it's relevant but also because I just did 2hrs of live band karaoke that was fun so I'm in a good mood and will share life stories.
So let's talk about how I learned 4d chess is utter bollocks. /1
So more years ago than I care to think I got offered a job in the US. I was early twenties. OBVIOUSLY I took it. Got to live in New York doing tech, but also I didn't know anyone so when I WASN'T getting slowly pissed I used to play Poker.
That meant playing Betfair poker rooms to begin with, which I used to win a LOT on because I was playing sober (relatively) on UK tables due to time difference, but I soon graduated to IRL at weekends at Atlantic City.
Whenever someone gets sniffy about OnlyFans or the NFSW art scene, I do think it's worth reminding them that a significant amount of art in the last 500yrs could just be called:
"Woman with her tits out. Oil on Canvas."
This one has bonus doggos!
I mean, I am NOT an art expert. I just like visiting national galleries in the countries I visit. You get a feel for the history and culture of the place, and what unites us cross-culture.
And one of those things is CLEARLY commissioning art of women with their tits out.
CECCO: It is done. What do you think?
RICH DUDE:
CECCO: You don't like it?
RICH DUDE: No! It's great! The emotion! The cross! It's just... not quite what I hoped for.
CECCO:
RICH DUDE:
CECCO: What if I repaint it and flop her left tit out?
RICH DUDE: Yes please
Harry Potter is going to be the Millennial version of the stuff you see boomers watch/read and think:
"how can you watch/read that? with all the baggage it's problematic af"
nostalgia is a dangerous drug. And nobody is immune to it. We just like to think we are.
Ultimately, fandom, when a creator or content becomes problematic, becomes a choice.
It is FINE for a thing to have been a formative part of your life. You are not a bad person.
But if you buy the new shit (e.g. games) once you DO know? At that point its on you
All I'm saying is that it's fine for stuff (and creators) to be of their time. You can have grown up or enjoyed a thing, and still go "yup. that's a line. I'm not crossing it."
It doesn't detract from, or negate, your childhood or happy memories. It just means you've grown a bit
One of the strategic leadership concepts I often find myself trying to explain to people is the concept of "situational deficit".
This is that you have to be aware of HOW MUCH understanding of a situation you need to have, before you can make an informed decision. /1
I used to call this "knowledge deficit", but people misunderstand that and think that it means they MUST understand directly all the background information in play.
And that's absolutely not true. It can just be knowing WHO does know stuff, and listening to them.
Situational deficit really hits hard in two situations:
1) A crisis situation 2) When you are placed in an unfamiliar role or face an out-of-context problem.
In both situations, the reaction of someone handling it badly is to think:
