A How-To Guide on Breaking The Internet
🧵
So, you want to break the Internet? Here's how you can do it in 3 easy steps
1) INFILTRATE
2) IMPLICATE
3) INFORM Image
INFILTRATION:
So there's a website that is saying something bad about you, your friends, your faith, your hobbies, your sexual predilections, or your taste in food?

First step is to INFILTRATE the forum. Make an account. Don't use your name and DO NOT reuse any handles. Image

The world does not need KiwiFarms
🧵
I am a regular lurker of KiwiFarms. My habit started sometime in 2018 or so.

Until that time, I'd seen references to it, but I dismissed it as another type of 4chan site, and I had no interest in it.

What changed? And what did I learn?
A member of the KF forum contacted me via my old Twitter account, GenderCoping. He told me that my identity had been exposed on the forum by another user, someone who is a verified Twitter user and identifies as transgender.

Far-left transgender activism is the greatest threat to free speech in the Western world. If the line is not held, we will not have free speech online anywhere.
This may sound hyperbolic, but it isn’t. There is an encroaching list of topics which we are forbidden from discussing online, including:
* Human sex and sexuality
* The grooming of children
* Historical facts of public figures
* Naming abuse and abusers
* Criticizing capital
One example of this is the current campaign against @libsoftiktok. I don’t endorse LoTT. However, there’s currently a serious pressure campaign to try to banish the account as a form of “stochastic terrorism”. The operator’s crime? Exposing leftist indoctrination of children.

“Detransitioners are weaponing narratives against trans people”

Consider these narratives: “the idea of having sex makes me anxious”, “I’m uncomfortable with my body”, “the other boys/girls treat me differently”

Perhaps trans narratives are being weaponized against cis kids?
Trans narratives focus on feelings of social isolation. They focus on feeling awkward, unlovable, and feeling like a freak. Trans narratives are about the possibility of being “saved” through medical transition. Narratives about finding a community that validates and affirms.
Nobody feels innately trans—of course not. We are hungry for stories where the protagonist is a loser like us. The loser is an ugly ducking—an awkward and unlovable boy. An unpopular girl. A “sex change” turns the duckling into a heroic swan. We see ourselves in these stories.

I was looking at some "trans timeline" videos.

They're entrancing. Positive music plays as you see someone go from a series of neutral or unhappy photos as their natal sex to a series as joyful and vibrant in their target sex.
Now, I'm an old tranny, that sort of thing is in my past. Now it's just pay bills, clean up cat poop, and cut the lawn. Hard to make a series of vibrant, joyful videos doing house chores.

But I can appreciate how the marketing would appeal to unhappy people with mundane lives.
What is unclear from those transition timeline videos is that surgery and hormones only produce cosmetic effects. You are still the same you underneath, and wherever you go, there you are. You can't outrun your problems by changing your sex. You can't even really change your sex.

I don't think @emilybazelon's article in NYT Mag was perfect (in fact I'm aware of at least one correction that's necessary). However, she made an honest attempt to include as many perspectives as she could. She is being crucified by leftist activists now to serve as an example.
Emily Bazelon's piece is about as measured as it's possible to be with this fraught topic. Her journalistic balance is why leftist are damning her. When you lay out all the perspectives about pediatric gender care, some of them sound sane and others sound insane.
The leftistist activists are extremely angry that these different viewpoints are available for readers to see compared against each other on the same page. I'm sorry for Emily—She is going to join @jessesingal and @kittypurrzog as exemplars of what happens to fair journalists.
