#KnightsTemplar is trending. Have you ever seen the original Baphomet that they venerated? Their occult lore and practice was a direct result of their contact with several Arab and African holdover cults of Late Antiquity, and a variety of Islamic sects including the assassins

Hammer-Purgstall is the guy who did the tracings of these Baphomet icons from a Templar crypt, which Tracy Twyman tried to access for photos, but was denied. It was Purgstalls book that she had translated.

Interestingly, Baphomet, a compound theonymn representing the combination of Metis with [another God whose name escapes me] has it's origins in Late Antique Benedictine meditations. The androgynous figure, represented in these icons, was the focus of a 'visionary practice'

I can only assume the practice of committing human sacrifice and all of the other mind control techniques actually develop from the Templar contact with the Nizari, who's "Old man of the Mountain" Hasan al Sabbah, was a Legendary criminal mastermind

Lest ye doubt that the tracings of these engravings were sourced from true stone, indeed, the entire collection is housed at the british museum, none of it on display, only selections having ever even been photographed.

The entire collection sources from the acquisition of the private hoard of antiquarian Duke Louis Charles Pierre Casimir de Blacas d'Aulps, who inherited his fathers private museum and was also an antiquarian.

Another important exchange was the 'St. John Christians', Johannites, who the Templars regarded as having secret knowledge transmitted in their lineage directly from John the Baptist. This becomes important when regarding Phillip IV's claim that they worshipped a "demonic head"

Rumors circled that they either had possession of the oracular head of a corpse, a mechanical contraption in the likeness of/or built from a human skull, or that they had the head of John the Baptist himself. Either way, the practice of speaking with a skull has a long history.

The unspeakable 'other' option, horrifying as it is, yet clearly displayed in some of these Templar relics, is that the head was not disembodied at all, but rather, a living man's body would be encased in a vessel, and only the head would be visible.

In this late antique/dark age setting, there remained a practice of entombing a man's body in a mix of oils, while living, and keeping him on a liquid diet that would literally "preserve" his organs over time.

I hypothesize that the Templar's took up this practice, having a secret victim acting as an oracular head. A cult practice that resembles this can be found in the folklore of the Island of of Chile known as Chileo.

In Chiloe, the resultant deformed "monster" was known as the Invaunche. Essentially a debilitated kidnapping victim, taken in infancy, raised to be a living magic 8 ball.
