I've been receiving part of my salary (£10 per day) automatically sent to my Lightning Address in sats daily via CoinCorner.
Automatically streaming money like @aantonop talked about many years ago is here.
Mini 🧵
This is helping introduce features we are used to from the legacy system on Bitcoin
Standing orders, direct debits or subscription based payments.
This is the 1st stage of many more to come introducing new capabilities along the way
Streaming like this changes the way we think
How does it work?
We're using LNURL again, simply making automated payments setup by the customer at whatever interval they wish and sent via LNURLPay or Lightning Addresses.
This means it's interoperable with other Lightning wallets and services using LNURL/Lightning Addresses
Direct debit/Subscriptions - Dynamic amounts?
Something clever we can do with a Lightning Address for example, the merchant can control the parameters, meaning every month they can change the amount to be paid. When being paid it can automatically read the "min payment" and make
the payment amount accordingly, allowing for dynamic value subscription or direct debit payments.
The payments are simply Lightning, so can be micro transactions if people wish to do so.
And for the Bolt12 fans yes it's on the radar, but we have demand for this feature now.
@CoinCorner we strive to make #Bitcoin the money and payments system of the future ⚡
The Bolt Card is an offline Lightning contactless card, powered by NFC, #Bitcoin Lightning and LNURL.
A global, open, permissionless, decentralised monetary network.
2/ So what just happened?!
An offline NFC (contactless) card “tapped” the Lightning enabled POS device, which requested the required payment, my @CoinCorner account grabbed my GBP, turned it into BTC and instantly sent BTC over Lightning to the merchant instantly settled.
3/ Why?!
Making in person payments with #Bitcoin and Lightning is still not as efficient and user friendly as we need it to be for the mass audience. We’re still opening our phone, opening an app, scanning a QR code and then making the transaction....
