A thread ๐งต
While GW9 is currently seen as the most popular time to WC due to the international break, there is a lot of merit in activating one week earlier, in GW8.
This is due to how the fixtures fall for both the top and mid-table teams.
Letโs take a look at the upcoming fixtures.
โ Teams to offload on WC8 โ
โญ๏ธ Arsenal
โข Arsenal have a tough game v BRE (a) in GW8
โข Followed by TOT, LIV & MCI in the following 4 fixtures
โข For these reasons, Iโm looking to potentially go with 0 Arsenal assets on WC8
๐ด Liverpool
โข Liverpool have been nowhere near their best this season
โข They play CHE (a) in GW8
โข Followed by BHA, ARS, MCI & WHU in the next 4
โข If youโre going to ditch Salah, WC8 is the optimal time to do so, and spread the funds around.
๐ Man City
โข City face MUN, LIV & ARS between GW9-12
โข This may provide an opportunity to minimise the number of City assets owned
โข SOU (H) in GW10 looks like a prime rotation fixture as itโs sandwiched between the tough PL fixtures and UCL
๐ Brighton
โข CRY (H) in GW8 will be a tricky game from both an attacking and defensive perspective
โข Followed by LIV & TOT in the next 2 fixtures, plus MCI & CHE in the next 6 fixtures
โช๏ธ Leeds
โข MUN (a) in GW8 is not a good fixture for an inconsistent Leeds team
โข Allows 1 week punt on Leeds assets in GW7 v NFO (H), before ditching on WC8
โข Very mixed and unfavourable fixtures going forward - they play ARS, LIV & TOT before the World Cup
โ TEAMS TO TARGET ON WC8 โ
๐ฒ Newcastle
โข WC8 allows a potential NEW triple up for the green fixture run from GW8-10 (BOU, ful, BRE)
โข Managers wildcarding in GW9 will lose the benefit of the big haul-potential fixture v BOU (H)
Best players to own:
๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ Trippier
๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ Pope
๐ธ๐ช Isak
๐ฆ Leicester
โข Despite Leicesterโs poor form, the fixtures are there to turn things around (especially from GW9-13)
โข You could look at benching Leicester assets in GW8, if selecting on WC8
โข WC8 allows you to hop on West Ham assets for the EVE (a) fixture, for their nice fixture run until the World Cup
โข A playable bench may be optimal to use in GW12 & 14, where you may want to bench WHU assets
Best players to own:
๐ง๐ท Paqueta
๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ Bowen
๐ง๐ท Emerson
โซ๏ธ Fulham
โข Fulham have one of the most favourable fixture runs in the league, from GW8-14
โข WC8 allows us to benefit from the fixture v NFO (a), which WC9 managers wonโt benefit from
Best players to own:
๐ท๐ธ Mitrovic
๐ง๐ท Andreas
๐ฉ๐ช Leno
๐ Tottenham
โข Spurs have a mixed run of fixtures ahead, but LEI (H) looks like an excellent fixture to target in GW8
โข The fixtures arenโt good enough for a triple up, but getting in one of Son/Kane on WC8 could pay dividends
Best players to own:
๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ Kane
๐ญ๐ท Perisic
๐ฐ๐ท Son
๐ฆ Crystal Palace
โข Palace assets would be long term holds until the World Cup (GW16)
โข GW8/9 fixtures arenโt the best, but from GW10 onwards, itโs all green
Best players to own:
๐จ๐ฎ Zaha
๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ Eze
๐ฉ๐ฐ Andersen
๐ Bournemouth
โข A new manager bounce could be underway for Bournemouth, and the fixtures are there to potentially take a punt on one of their assets
Best players to own:
๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ Solanke
๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ Tavernier
Pros of WC8 over WC9
โ๏ธ Avoid the CHE v LIV fixture in GW8
โ๏ธ Take advantage of the many mid-table teams that have a favourable fixture turn beginning in GW8
โ๏ธ Get in early on the new template, and be rewarded with better team value before the masses buy on WC9
Cons of a WC8 over WC9
โ WC9 gives you an extra week to tinker during the international break
โ Potential injuries from international duty may be a slight concern with only 1 FT in GW9 (recommend a strong 1st bench player, and a full playing bench)
Iโm personally looking to get ahead of the curve with my WC, meaning Iโll be ditching most of the current template.
The big 6 will see plenty of rotation with Europe competitions beginning this week, so I see now to be a great time jump off.
Here are some potential drafts ๐
Draft 1 (3-5-2)
โ No Salah, No City (except Haaland), No Arsenal
๐ธ Spread the funds around
๐ฐ Heavy on the mid-table teams
๐ฐ2 premium midfielders
Draft 2 (4-3-3)
โ No Salah, once again
๐ฐ Fairly spread of funds across all positions
๐ฒ Triple Newcastle
Draft 3 (4-3-3)
โ๏ธ A draft for the Salah backers
๐ Safest of the 3 drafts with the current template
๐ฆ Has approx. ยฃ1m left in the bank for some upgrades
Summary ๐ฏ
There are more advantages than disadvantages to activate the WC in GW8, one week before the masses.
GW8 seems to be the optimal time to jump off the triple ups from the big teams, and jump on the high value assets from mid-table teams with the best fixtures.
Thank you for reading ๐
Let me know when you plan to play the WC ๐

Many FPL managers are looking at replacing the likes of Cash, Digne and Trippier, who all have unfavourable fixture turns beginning this week.
Iโll be comparing my 3 favourite options in the ยฃ5-5.5m price bracket in 3 key metrics.
1. xMins โฑ
๐ต Cucurella
Chily has been sent to play with the development squad this week, which is a sign that heโs still not hit an acceptable fitness level after his ACL injury last season.
This should see Cucurella secure the 1st choice LWB spot, at least short term.
Recommending the most optimal transfers to take advantage of the green fixtures for as long as possible โ

GW11: Torres/Foden โก๏ธ Zaha
Many are looking to bring in City mids as a short term punt, particular for the next 3 fixtures โ
However, holding City mids long term can be very risky, which is why you can swap to a nailed on Zaha in GW11 for Palaceโs favourable fixture run โญ๏ธ
GW11: Raphinha โก๏ธ Mbeumo
Leedsโ next 3 fixtures have goals, so we should hold onto Raphinha for now ๐
Everyone will likely bring in at least one of Mbeumo/Toney for their upcoming fixture run until GW19 โ
Or if you already have both, you can sell later (will be discussed)
In this thread, we analyse the 3 most inform/hyped players of the gameweek, with each of us providing a verdict on whether to โbuyโ or โavoidโ each player
DCL was once again impressive this week. With a npxG of 1.5 and 4 SoT, plus also missing a big chance, he was very unlucky not to score 1-2 more goals v Leeds.
To many peopleโs surprise, DCL also stepped up to take a penalty which only adds to his appeal.
Everton are set up in a way that is built around DCL scoring goals, with Rafa Benitez openly admitting that.
As we can see from his heat map, he is continuing as a poacher that brought him many goals last season under Ancelotti, with Richarlison playing behind him in support
