When I and others suggest that today's Tory party is verging on fascism, some people say I am exaggerating. I'm not. I offer four examples that illustrate that today's Tory party has become so right-wing that classifying them as fascists is accurate /1
Firstly, scapegoating. In the 1930s, the German Nazi party blamed all the country's problems on Jews. They called them the Untermensch. In today's Britain, refugees who cross the channel to claim asylum because there is no legal route open to them are demonised in the same way /2
Secondly Trade Unions. On 2 May 1933, just three months after Adolf Hitler's appointment as Chancellor of Germany, All Trades Union were banned. In today's Tory Britain, legislation to remove the right to strike is being proposed and pushed by the Tory Party /3
Thirdly, The media. In 1933, the Nazi regime deployed the radio, press, and newsreels to stoke fears of a pending “Communist uprising,” then channeled popular anxieties into political measures that eradicated civil liberties and democracy. /4
In Britain today, the Tory Party and its media barons have done the same publishing front pages saying Judges are enemies of the people, Calling left wing people 'Woke' and 'Cultural Marxists' and calling for peaceful protesters to be jailed.
Fourthly, Fair Elections. The Election Act 2022 - the Tories passed legislation requiring photo ID to vote even though registration on the electoral roll already required ID and they removed the independence of the Electoral Commission allowing them to massage election methods
Scapegoating will get worse under Braverman - a woman even more evil than Patel
The instinct to suppress and repress is a trait held by all far-right and fascist parties. It has been well illustrated by @BrineMP recently talking about Lineker and Lycett. It is also well illustrated by the passing of the Police Act 2022
The Police Act allows police to arrest peaceful protesters who are liable for up to 10 years for exercising a fundamental human right. It is well illustrated by the Nationalities Act 2022 which allows the Home Sec to deport people with the most tenuous link to another country
The proposals to repeal the Human Rights act and to withdraw from the ECHR (the UK was the major driver its creation) are further examples of this desire to suppress and repress. When MPs like Brine talk aabout protecting free speech, they means speech with which they agree
When you hear that Truss has scrapped Raab's proposals to replace the Human Rights Act, do not get excited. She told Cabinet that 'her government would reassess ways to deliver its agenda'. Look out for something even more horrific and repressive

Life depends on trust. If you undergo a serious operation (as I have), you trust your surgeon and their team. If you're in the armed services, you trust your commanders and your mates and your sub-ordinates. If scientists tell you a disaster that's coming, you listen. /1
You trust these people because they are experienced and qualified and their interests are the same as yours - they have those interests at heart. This was once true of our politicians regardless of party. /2
But this is no longer true in the case of the Conservatives. The Conservatives do not have our (UK citizens) interests at heart any more, their only interest is the enrichment of themselves and their backers. Our society is breaking down as a result. /3
One of most sickening aspects of privatisation and corporate buyouts that MPs and Ministers propose/approve is the devaluing of workers' pension schemes from Defined Benefit (Final Salary) to Defined Contribution (Invest in the Stock Market and hope)
MPs and Ministers get a final salary pension that rises with inflation for life. If they die, their dependents get about half.
To meet pension fund regulation, Final Salary pensions are expensive for employers to maintain so almost always the first move of a newly privatised company such as @RoyalMail is to change to a defined contribution fund
Before you believe @Edwina_Currie's nonsense about her being a pensioner and living on savings, know this: Her pension is final salary and rises with inflation. She's worth millions. She lives in a house valued at £850k in Oct 2021. She is paid for her TV work.
She knows nothing of the financial crisis facing ordinary people in he UK
