My job now is to be on the picket line. I’d rather be a professor. But, until @EMUAAUP gets what’s fair, that’s where I’ll be #FairContractNow
We need your support. Everyone's: alumni, students, sports fans, community members. Anyone who loves EMU and having strong public higher education in SE Michigan. Here are a few things you can do to help out:
1. Follow @EMUAAUP on twitter or via Facebook to get updates on the negotiations. Please note that EMU's public relations arm, EMU Today, is *not* a neutral, or reliable, source of information facebook.com/aaup.emu/
3. Use this email template to draft a letter to EMU President Smith and the Board of Regents, letting them know how important EMU faculty are to you and that you want these negotiations ended fairly and quickly docs.google.com/document/u/1/d…
3b. You can send similar letters to elected officials. Many people don't know that, unlike U-M, MSU, & other schools, whose Board is elected by the public, EMU's Board of Regents is appointed by @GovWhitmer. Let them know how important this is, in an election year
4. You can print out a poster showing your support for EMU-AAUP. Hang it in the window of your business or office. Or at home. Or on your dorm room door. In your car. Anywhere that will raise the public profile of our struggle drive.google.com/file/d/1gcx40U…
5. You can come join us on the picket lines on EMU's campus. We'll be out there every day, all day, until this is resolved. We'll have signs for you to hold, cheers for you to cheer, and the occasional free lemonade. Wear red, if you got it.
