…for me, top priority is to improve our vaccination coverage. We now know boosting is the key in terms of hospitalization or not. Yet only 1/3 of adults in US are booster, only 8% under 18, and just 4% here in Texas. So the message is to boost now Image
Also only 1/3 kids 5-11 years are vaccinated vs Covid in US and only about 15% here on the US Gulf Coast. That’s simply unacceptable. Regarding masks for me that depends a lot on areas where community transmission still high, BA.5 wave coming down now but real slow..

Here’s the latest update on our patent-free vaccine:

70 million doses of Corbevax administered to adolescents in India 🇮🇳 in addition to 8.5 million adult boosters

In Indonesia 🇮🇩 a second related version known as Indovac, the first halal vaccine for Muslim majority countries
We did this for about $0.30 per dose in public and private funds. The White House at their vaccine summit told me that we broke all records by logs of public investment per doses delivered

2/5 I feel it’s important that we receive another boost this fall, for those over the age of 50 - a third boost (5th Covid immunization overall, and adults <50 - a second boost. Doing so would ramp up virus neutralizing antibodies for the current BA.5 in circulation and help vs
3/5 vs a future variant that might come along as we head toward winter. The question is whether boosting with both lineages is warranted at this point? Ideally yes since BA.5 is going down but slowly and a long tail + possibility that any future variant might look more like BA.5
