Jennifer O'Connell missed a lot of points in her article today however were pleased that Genspect, @WomensSpaceIre
and @jordanbpeterson get a mention.
Jennifer misses the point that "fruit of the poisonous tree" is a legal doctrine from the USA.. 1/4 irishtimes.com/opinion/2022/0…
Jennifer says "But this is precisely how democratic society works. We are free to believe whatever we like, but we are not free to behave as we like."
But what about #FreedomNotToBelieve ? That's also an essential aspect of a democratic society. 2/4
There are too many leaps of logic to go through them all, another example is,
"But no one is asking him to change his beliefs, only his behaviour."
For some people (evidently not Jennifer) integrity means that your behaviour matches your beliefs 3/4
Jennifer reminds us there is a child in the centre of all this. We would like to echo that.
This teen should have been treated with considerably more care & caution. The school should have handled the situation better rather than allow this circus to unfold #FreedomNotToBelieve

US: Sept 12 is the LAST DAY to submit your comments on the proposed update to TITLE IX which will force schools to validate "gender identity", socially transition kids upon their request, eliminate single sex spaces & safeguarding. Submit your comment now! federalregister.gov/documents/2022…
Over 200K comments have been received so far. You can read them here: regulations.gov/document/ED-20… Let your voice be heard- its now or never!
IE: "While parents across the country are demanding the rejection of woke policies, the Dept of Ed has chosen to hijack Title IX to force gender ideology on kids without their parents’ knowledge/approval. This is a lawless interpretation & a complete overreach by the Dept of Ed."
FINLAND 2015: 🧵"The # of referrals exceeded expectations in light of epidemiological knowledge. Natal girls were markedly overrepresented among applicants. Severe psychopathology preceding onset of gender dysphoria was common. Autism-very common." capmh.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11… ⤵️
Conclusion: "The findings do not fit the commonly accepted image of a gender dysphoric minor. Treatment guidelines need to consider gender dysphoria in minors in the context of severe psychopathology and developmental difficulties."
Thread: WPATH's much anticipated SOC8 has been further delayed. Some suspect that public outrage against pediatric gender clinics such as @BostonChildrens and criticism of the @AmerAcadPeds's "gender affirmative model of care" could be factors.
The lead for the “Assessment, Support and Therapeutic Approaches of Children” chapter of the upcoming SOC8 is listed on WPATH's website as Amy Tishelman, PhD, a clinical psychologist. bit.ly/3RLhoXs
About 80% of UK school use SIMS to manage pupil data. Previously there was a place to record gender (male or female) but no place to record sex. 'Gender' has now been relabelled as 'sex', 1/4 ess-sims.co.uk/sims7-summer-r…
However a new, optional field has been added to record pronouns with the following options:
he/him/his/his/himself
she/her/her/hers/herself
they/them/their/theirs/themselves
e/em/eir/eirs/emself
ey/em/eir/eirs/eirself
sie/sie/hir/hirs/hirself
tey/ter/tem/ters/terself
... 2/4
SIMS say that they have switch from gender to sex
"Following requests from a significant number of schools and extensive consultation we have cosmetically relabelled the ‘gender’ field within the user interface to ‘sex'." 3/4
AUSTRALIA: 🧵@DrFionaBisshop, President of @auspathorg, has penned a letter to the @sydneymorningherald insisting that the closure of the Tavistock gender clinic in the UK does not mean that change is needed in Australian gender clinics. She writes: smh.com.au/national/closu…
"The most compelling statement in Dr Cass’s interim review was...the Tavistock was failing in its prime objective-to see young people in a timely fashion & assess their needs regarding gender. The major issue was the unacceptable time young people languished on the waiting list."
Other intl trans activists/orgs/providers/clinicians & media outlets like the @nytimes have similarly glossed over the massive safeguarding concerns outlined by @thecassreview & claimed that the closure was due to 2 yr long wait times- ie: nytimes.com/2022/07/28/hea…
This case is controversial. But the fact that a teacher is in jail tonight because he refused to call a student 'they/them' is deeply disturbing. @andrewdoyle_com @SpeechUnion
Enoch Burke's behaviour and beliefs are being criticised and Genspect doesn't agree with many of his views. But this is irrelevant.
We need to protect freedom of conscience and the right to free speech.
Compelled speech is an insidious concept that needs to be stopped
Although Enoch Burke is in jail for contempt of court, this case is rooted in the fact that the teacher's beliefs prevented him from calling a student they/them. As he said "it's plural".
