Since posting our #Airdrop details yesterday, we received a lot of backlash, and we wanted to write this ๐งต to clear things up.
We'll go over major criticisms of our airdrops and explain why we made certain decisions, along with changes we'll make now. ๐
1/14
Concern #1: The snapshot date. (Our first snapshot date being in the future - September 28th)
All domain holders and registrants are rewarded based on how early their domains were registered, following this curve (and area under the curve for time held).
2/14
This means: the earlier you registered a domain, & the longer you held it, the more of the airdrop you get.
As this amount decays quadratically, the snapshot date becomes less relevant because all domains registered before yesterday are disproportionately rewarded more. ๐
3/14
Ex:
Person A registers 12345.evmos on June 1st, and Person B registers 23456.evmos on Sept. 15th, and they both hold until Sept. 28th:
๐ The curve's value at registration determines the registrant airdrop
๐ The area under the curve determines the NFT holder airdrop
๐
4/14
In the example above, if 12345.evmos (earlier registration) gets 10,000 $EVD, then the user that registered on September 15th gets only 45 $EVD, 222x less.
This was designed to reward early holders despite any future snapshot, and has been clarified in the blog post.
5/14
Because timestamps for events are such an important factor in distribution, the snapshot date becomes less and less relevant.
It simply becomes a cutoff.
6/14
Concern #2: Rewarding 3 and 4 character domains more.
The pricing for #EvmosDomains is as follows:
- 3 char: $640 (5 x 128)
- 4 char: $160 (5 x 32)
- 5 char: $5 (5 x 1)
We set proportionate rewards for shorter domains because it would be unfair to registrants if we didn't
7/14
Concern #3: $ATOM and $OSMO staker rewards.
Airdropping to stakers across other popular Cosmos chains has become a staple to attract users from those other chains.
$EVMOS stakers are rewarded more than $ATOM and #OSMO stakers:
$EVMOS: 5%
$ATOM: 2.5%
$OSMO: 2.5%
๐
8/14
And like holders, stakers will be rewarded proportionate to how early their minimum amount was staked.
9/14
Concern #4: Multiple Airdrops.
We saw a concern over multiple airdrops spanning 6 months, instead of a single airdrop up front, to increase the span of rewards while we build #EvmosDomains.
How we're fixing it: ๐
10/14
A large percentage of Airdrops 2 and 3 will now go to (at their snapshots) $EVD holders and LPs (50% of Airdrop 2, 75% of Airdrop 3), diluting the rest.
On top of the first airdrop constituting 50% of all airdropped $EVD, this weights later airdrops as much less overall.
11/14
Concern #5: Team vesting period of 4 months is too short.
How we're fixing it: ๐
The team's $EVD airdrop vesting period will now be increased from 4 months to 2 years.
12/14
We updated the blog post with all the above changes, and we firmly believe that when all elements of our airdrop are combined (time registered, held, length), the criteria is fair to our community.
Thank you for taking the time.
