I use credit cards for all my expenses for making the best of reward points. I earn around ~Rs.30,000-60,000 a year on reward points

As the Indian middle-class, every rupee reward counts in saving more

Below is the thread of some cards that I use for my expenses 🧵

#CreditCard
Key things to consider:

- FREE CARDS - I prefer only free cards & never paid a single rupee as membership fee for any of my cards

- CREDIT as DEBIT - I use my credit card like debit card, spend and pay immediately

- TRACK OFFERS - Credit cards have specific offers, track them
1. Amex Rewards Credit Card (5-10% rewards)

BEST EVER

1000 Bonus points for 4 transactions of >Rs.1500
1000 Bonus points every month for spending >20K

After 24000 points, you can redeem it for 9000 Amazon/Flipkart or 14000 Taj voucher

Note - Amex not accepting new cards
2. Amex Gold Charge Card

1000 Bonus points for 6 transactions of >Rs.1000
Specific intermittent offers for utility payments, insurance & electronics

LIFETIME FREE CARD. NO PRESET LIMIT

24000 points = 9000 Amazon/Flipkart voucher

Note - Amex not accepting new cards in INDIA
3. Best card for online spends

FLAT 5% Cashback on online transactions upto Rs.10000 & additional offers

Amazinggggg card for online shoppers & I got the virtual card in 2 minutes

FIRST YEAR FREE

4. Fuel spends - CITI INDIAN OIL CREDIT CARD

4 turbo points / Rs.150 spend. Each point = Rs.1 for fuel purchases

LIFETIME FREE

Works only in Indian Oil petrol pumps. Not so available in tier 2 cities

Full tank gives 1-ltr free petrol

Register here - online.citibank.co.in/portal/newgen/…
5. Slice card - Not a credit card (Its a consumer loan)

Many online and offline offers. FLAT 2% rewards when you cross Rs.5L spend.

Most useful for utility & insurance payments. 2% on insurance is huge. Specific SPARK offers every week to save more
Key points to note

- Credit cards are not for cash. Never take loan of credit cards, life will get screwed
- Switch between cards wisely for more points
- Dont apply for too many cards- Impacts CIBIL
- Dont spend more than 10% of limit- impacts CIBIL
Are these the best cards ever ?? I don’t know.

These are just the cards I use, there might be other cards which I don’t know off

I don’t promote any of these products nor I have partnerships.

Sharing for awareness only.

I also use the the Amazon ICICI card with prime account for 5% cashback on all Amazon purchases.

This has become a bit useless after getting the SBI Cashback card as SBI card offers 10% discount (in offers) + 5% cashback to card. Amazon offers only 5% +5% to Amazon pay
Finally, I used CRED for all my credit card bill payments.

Earned around 40K using CRED payments.

Use the below link to sign up & earn Rs.250 on your first credit card bill payment (min.1000)

Since many are asking me

Thread 🧵: How would I build my investment portfolio if I had to start with ₹20,000/mnth

Most people think you need lakhs to invest

Truth: Yes, but you also need consistency & clarity. Here’s how ₹20K/month could create a portfolio 👇

#investing
1️⃣ Step 1 - Know my foundation
Before investing a rupee:

Clear any high-interest loans (like credit cards, outside debt, personal loans) ✅

Build an emergency fund = 3–6 months of expenses. ✅

Once that’s done → ₹20,000/month can start working for you
2️⃣ Step 2 - A simple allocation strategy 👇

₹8,000 → Equity mutual funds
₹6,000 → Index funds or ETFs
₹4,000 → Debt/FD
₹2,000 → Gold (SGBs / ETFs)

I chose low debt as I am still in 30s, one can be more or less aggressive based on age

Balanced. Diversified. Manageable

Having a 20L or 1Cr premium does not guarantee a health insurance claim…

Before buying any health insurance policy, learn these basics 🧵
Pre-existing diseases

Most insurers won’t cover your existing medical conditions immediately.
Waiting periods can be 3 years. Know this before relying on your policy.

3 years was last Oct, before that the policies had varied waiting periods
Waiting periods

Apart from pre-existing, some common illnesses (like hernia, cataract, knee replacement) also have specific waiting periods. Read that fine print.

I was recently diagnosed with Coccyxdynia - tailbone pain 🧵

It’s surprising how a tiny bone at the bottom of your spine can make sitting, working, or even driving so painful

I visited an orthopedic and a physician. They suggested cushions, physiotherapy, and posture correction.

But honestly, the hardest part is not the treatment.
It’s daily life.Image
What did doctor say?

Bad roads are the biggest struggle. Every bump or pothole sends sharp pain through my coccyx. Driving, riding, even short commutes have become uncomfortable.

Long working hours make it worse. Sitting at a desk for hours without moving adds pressure and pain. Physiotherapy and small posture changes help, but it’s a slow process.
What is helping me:

✅ Cushions (donut/wedge)
✅ Short breaks from sitting
✅ Simple stretches and physiotherapy
✅ Awareness of posture

Patience is key, this isn’t a quick fix

Investing Basics – Explained with Examples

🚫Not for experts

Understand SIP, STP, SWP, Asset Allocation & More with simple real-life cases (on request from DM's)

Bookmark if you’re getting started 🧵

SIP – Systematic Investment Plan
STP – Systematic Transfer Plan
SWP – Systematic Withdrawal Plan
Lumpsum Investment
Asset Allocation
Emergency Fund
ELSS – Equity Linked Saving SchemeImage
SIP – Systematic Investment Plan
You invest a fixed amount every month in a mutual fund.

🧠 Think of SIP like an EMI – but for wealth creation.

✅ Works best for regular income folks
✅ You don’t have to time the market
✅ Builds long-term discipline

📍Example:

A person invests ₹5,000/month in an Index Fund via SIP. After 10 years (assuming 12% CAGR), it grows to ~₹11.6 lakhs

His total investment? Just ₹6 lakhs
Return? ₹5.6L profit without doing anything daily.

Illustration:

🎯 Returns Summary
- Total Investment: ₹1,20,000
- Value at Year End: ₹1,26,837.02
- Gain: ₹6,837.02
- Approximated XIRR: ~12%Image
STP – Systematic Transfer Plan

STP allows you to move money gradually from one mutual fund to another (usually from debt to equity).

✅ Useful when you have a lump sum amount (like ₹5–10L) but want to avoid market volatility.

🧠 Strategy:

- Park ₹5L in a liquid or ultra short-term fund
- Set up STP of ₹25K/month into an equity mutual fund

This way you avoid investing the entire lump sum at a market high. Also useful when doing goal-based investing

Example

10-month STP table with growth applied:

Debt Fund grows at 6% annual interest
Equity Fund grows at 12% annual interest
₹1,00,000 is initially invested in the debt fund.
₹10,000 is transferred monthly to the equity fund.Image

I am 35 now,

Below are 15 things I wish I knew at 25 🧵
Invest in yourself — it pays the highest returns.

In the first 10–20 years, your active income (from your skills, job, or business) grows the fastest
Spend time with your parents — after 50, they age faster, and what’s lost can never be regained

Regret lasts forever
