When I became Governor, we knew we need to do better when it came to Missouri’s crumbling infrastructure.

That why we established our Focus on Bridges program in 2019, and we set out to repair and replace 250 of some of the worst bridges across state.

We’re proud that with the completion of the Route 50 at Chipman Road bridge… we have now completed more than 185 of those bridges! Great to celebrate with Lee’s Summit this morning.

But we didn’t just stop with our Focus on Bridges program.

Last year, we passed legislation to raise critically needed and long overdue transportation funding in the State of Missouri. It marked the first time in over 25 years that we increased revenues for the State Road Fund.

This week, I joined leaders from across the state for the Governor’s Conference on Economic Development hosted by @HawthornMO.

Businesses are taking notice and choosing Missouri to grow, invest, and create jobs.

Missouri’s unemployment rates sits at 2.5% — the lowest in recorded state history.

✅ 1st in the U.S. for On-The-Job Training

✅ 3rd in the U.S. for apprenticeships

✅ 3rd in the U.S. for low cost of living

✅ 3rd in the U.S. for Most Affordable Place to Retire

✅ 3rd in the U.S. for our corporate tax index – outranking neighboring states

✅ 7th in the U.S. for Tech Manufacturing Growth

✅ 7th in the U.S. for our low Property Tax Index

Always great to join @MUCAFNRresearch’s Fisher Delta REEC Field Day in Portageville. We spoke with agriculture leaders in Southeast Missouri about research opportunities in soy, cotton, rice, and other Bootheel crops.

Missouri agriculture has unrivaled diversity, access to cutting-edge research at our land grant universities, and a thriving agribusiness environment.

We are proud that Missouri is a national leader among agriculture states, ranking top ten in the United States for production in nearly every major commodity.

Missouri agriculture is an $94 billion industry and remains the number one economic driver in the Show-Me State.

Our last stop of the day was at the @TrumanState University Farm. We met with Kirksville community members to detail our plans for a special session to cut income taxes and expand critical agriculture credits.

A single bill, combining ag tax credits and income tax cuts will be introduced and originate in the Missouri Senate, where we hope for speedy passage to the House.

Unchecked tax and spending habits in Washington DC have left Missourians punished by this inflation crisis.

We owe it to our farmers and to all Missourians to provide lasting relief that will actually make a difference, both now and in the years to come.

Today, we visited @ColumbiaUrbanAg and talk with folks about why we are holding a special session.

Great to meet with @MoAgriculture Director Chris Chinn and Columbia Mayor @BarbaraBuffaloe about the community’s efforts to provide fresh produce for local food banks.

As an Ag Governor, vetoing an Ag Bill was not something I took lightly, but to put it simply, it was a bad deal.

Special interests were involved in a bill that they had no business being involved with and our farm families and agriculture businesses were caught in the middle.

Eight times this pass session the General Assembly passed and I signed similar incentive programs with six year sunsets for other industries, and if these programs are good enough for six years so are our programs that support development in Missouri’s agriculture industry.

At Davidson Logistics in Bridgeton this morning to share details of our plan to provide the largest income tax cut in state history.

Incredible facility for a Missouri-grown company Don Davidson Jr. started in his basement. Great example of the American Dream in action!

Starting September 6, we are calling the General Assembly to Jefferson City for a special session to lower the individual income tax rate from 5.3% down to 4.8%.

Employees of Davidson Logistics and every taxpaying Missourian will see a reduction in tax liability.

Our unemployment rate sits at the lowest level in our state’s history at 2.5%. Missourians are hard-working — they want to work and they are.
