There’s been some questions recently here about the types of #IBD research that @CrohnsColitisFn supports. I want to highlight some of the innovative projects that we are working on to bring us closer to our vision of a future free from #CrohnsDisease & #UlcerativeColitis.
.@CrohnsColitisFn is proud to be a collaborator on over 200 #IBD research projects in the US & around the world that are helping to improve patient quality of life and bring us closer to cures. Here are some examples:
We support the work of researchers at @ut_dallas who developed and are testing a wrist-watch like device that monitors sweat for biomarkers that could indicate an #IBD flare: crohnscolitisfoundation.org/blog/researche…
We are partnering with @lifearc1 to develop the first-ever clinical lab test designed to predict disease course for children with #CrohnsDisease: crohnscolitisfoundation.org/news/lifearc-p…
We’re paving the way by funding four important studies in the field of #PrecisionNutrition to help us better understand the role that diet plays in #IBD & help tailor diet to individual patient's needs: crohnscolitisfoundation.org/impact-report#…
We are funding work by @VedantaBio to develop a live bacterial cocktail that slows or stops #IBD progression: crohnscolitisfoundation.org/blog/treating-…
We are supporting @PredictSUREIBD’s work to validate a blood test that predicts whether a patient is at high or low risk for aggressive disease: crohnscolitisfoundation.org/impact-report#…
Through #IBDVentures, we’re supporting @TissiumTech’s work to develop a medical grade gel that has the potential to seal #PerianalFistulas: crohnscolitisfoundation.org/blog/predictin… #CrohnsDisease #IBD
Also through #IBDVentures, we’re supporting @BioraThera’s work to develop new “smart pill” that aims to deliver medicine directly to the colon, which would increase efficacy while minimizing absorption into the bloodstream & related side effects: crohnscolitisfoundation.org/impact-report#… #IBD
We’re also dedicated to investigating the biological mechanisms of fibrosis, & using #StemCell technology to create “mini-gut” models that are enabling scientists to learn more about the role that genes & other factors play in the development of #fibrosis: crohnscolitisfoundation.org/impact-report-…
We’re supporting a group of researchers at @JohnsHopkins who are working on creating drug treatments that work by inhibiting a specific enzyme – glutamate carboxypeptidase II (GCPII)– that are elevated in people with #IBD.
This is just a small sample of the incredible research that @CrohnsColitisFn is supporting in the #IBD space & will continue to support until the day that we find cures for these debilitating diseases. #CrohnsDisease #UlcerativeColitis
