PROTESTS ACROSS UK OVER KILLING OF UNARMED BLACK MAN #ChrisKaba
Hundreds of people gathered outside New Scotland Yard as part of a series of protests across the country calling for #JusticeForChrisKaba 1/
IOPC is investigating whether race was a factor… How many BLACK lives do their officers need to cut short before they acknowledge the pattern which is obvious to rest of us?
Only the families who have lost someone can know the very real pain they feel… 2/
The officer who fired the fatal shot should have been suspended immediately… And Chris’ family rightfully have questions and demands which also need to be met immediately! 3/
Since 1990 there have been just under 1,900 deaths of members of the public after contact with the police.
Astonishingly, that’s well over one person dying every single week…
Over the same period there has been just one conviction of a serving police officer…
4/
And yet, the Police Federation feel no shame in expressing support for the officer concerned… 5/ theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/s…
‘The latest fatal police shooting of a young black man should be of concern to all who oppose racism and is a sinister sign of a state prepared to crack down on its citizens in the most brutal way it can’ #JusticeForChrisKaba
6/
The met is institutionally racist!
Which is why it has become necessary for all of us to keep protesting…
Usually we highlight incidences of racism, however we have noticed a gap in many people’s understanding about the difference between racism and xenophobia. This is a crucial distinction
1/
and we feel some teaching on the matter is appropriate. Please share it widely.
For groups in society known for their racist views, lacking such basic knowledge is understandable.
2/
However, the extent of missing knowledge amongst those who profess to be allies is disturbing, and causes issues, as you will see.
Racism is a fact in the UK. That it exists is indesputable.
3/
We have seen great displays of solidarity in cities across the nation to show support for the #JusticeForChrisKaba campaign, and rightly so.
But this needs to be (another) tipping point, not a one-off instance that fades
SO WHAT NEXT?
1/
We suggest you all follow and support @UFFCampaign. The United Family and Friends Campaign is a coalition to support and raise awareness for those affected by deaths in UK police, prison, immigration and psychiatric custody.
They were established in 1997 as a network of Black families affected by such deaths, and have since expanded to include people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds all with a shared tragedy - the death of a loved one due to the unacceptable violence of the UK system.

EXPLOITATION, MEDICAL RACISM, AND DANGEROUS RECRUITMENT PRACTICES
NHS struggles have led to heinous practices for unregulated profiteers AND our own government.
WHAT IS GOING ON?
1/
“That the UK should have [to] do special deals with other countries to support its own NHS workforce is in itself a marker of how workforce planning for the NHS has failed,”
VALID AND DAMNING CRITICISM from the president of the Royal College of Physicians
2/
The DHSC has been recruiting from World Health Organisation red-listed countries, tempting away healthcare staff where they are most urgently needed... The exploitation means some nurses are paying THOUSANDS to join the NHS
COULD THESE HOME OFFICE MEMOS BE THE DOWNFALL OF THE RWANDA DEPORTATION SCHEME?
Memos gathered as evidence against the Home Office shed crucial insight into the devious nature of Priti Patel's plans...but will they be enough? 1/6
THESE MEMOS PROVIDE KEY EVIDENCE OF HOME OFFICE SKULDUGGERY
Highlighted widely and developing a notorious international reputation, these memos seem to reinforce the HO as a department NOT to be trusted... 2/6
THANKFULLY there are good people out there who are working hard, either directly or indirectly in the arena of helping asylum seekers, charities and refugees seeking justice against the Home Office's cruelty - find them, follow them, support them ✊

‘SOUL DESTROYING RACIAL DISCRIMINATION IS RIFE in the workplace’-for WHITE privilege deniers
If young Black people are doing better in school than their white counterparts they still find the cards stacked against them when they enter the world of work @Channel4News 18/08/16 1/
[in Aug 2016] The Equality and Human Rights Commission said there's "entrenched race inequality" across society, with ethnic minorities more likely to live in poverty than white people, while black workers with degrees earn 23% less than equivalent white employees.
2/
And once at work…
🔸New research by TUC shows 40% of Black & minority ethnic workers have faced racism at work
More than 50% the 18-34 yo polled said they had been racially abused at work in the last 5 years, in our opinion, it’s much higher… 3/ morningstaronline.co.uk/article/b/soul…
