Before the Queen’s coffin was carried from @wabbey by the Bearer Party, The Sovereign’s Piper played the traditional lament: ‘Sleep, dearie, sleep’. As Piper, Paul Burns, walked out of view, the sound of the pipes remained and slowly faded away…

It was sung at the Wedding of the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh in 1947.
The descant by William Baird Ross was one of the Queen’s favourites.

The emblems of Majesty - the Orb, the Sceptre and the Imperial State Crown are removed from the late Queen’s coffin by the Crown Jeweller and handed to the Dean of Windsor - who returned them to the altar. The instruments of state taken from one Monarch to be passed to another.

Before the coffin was lowered, the King placed on it the flag (colour) of the Queen’s Company 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards.

The Queen’s Piper (now the King’s Piper) Paul Burns plays a Lament.
He walks away slowly.
So for those in St George’s Chapel his bagpipes fade to silence.
The Garter King of Arms then declares King Charles “the Most High, Most Mighty and Most Excellent Monarch”.
