Bit more on Shakhtar winger Mykhaylo Mudryk, who has two #UCL goals in two games. Mudryk is hoping for a January move and told me he "couldn't say no" to #AFC. Several European clubs now tracking him, including Newcastle, Sevilla, Leverkusen and Ajax.
Everton had a €30m bid rejected this summer. Sporting director Darijo Srna says: "Mudryk is a serious talent. After Mbappe & Vini Jr, he's the best player in Europe in his position. If someone wants to buy Mudryk they must spend a lot, a lot, a lot of money & respect our club."
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will move in January. Important to note, they never bid (or seriously considered it) in the summer. Lots of top clubs put off by Shakhtar's €50m+ valuation, and that will only rise as things stand.
Shakhtar president Rinat Akhmetov pretty firm on price and isn't expected to budge if Shakhtar qualify for #UCL round of 16. Mudryk braced for offers, though. He sees January as the right time to move.

Jules Kounde to L'Equipe: "I spoke [with Thomas Tuchel] and I also felt a desire to make me come, but I simply preferred Xavi’s speech. He told me that my qualities correspond to his game plan, starting from the back, playing high, using my qualities of speed and anticipation."
Xavi's clear pitch and near daily contact with Kounde made such a big difference. One call in particular changed everything, prompting Kounde to U-turn on missing Sevilla's pre-season trip to Portugal and travel with the squad.
#CFC (and Monchi, as he's said on record) felt prior to that point that Kounde was "sold" to Chelsea. Chelsea even started planning his medical.

Christoph Freund set to sign as Chelsea's new sporting director, as first reported last week. He's already verbally agreed to the role. Talks began when #CFC enquired about Benjamin Sesko in early August with Todd Boehly impressed by Red Bull model & Freund's data-led background.
Freund has spoken to Graham Potter now, who is fully behind the appointment. Salzburg aware of approach for weeks and Freund has their blessing. He's already called Chelsea "a huge club" and refused to rule out a move when asked about links during #CFC's UCL draw with Salzburg.
Chelsea still exploring appointing a technical director, too. Paul Mitchell is friendly with Freund and although keen on the sporting director role himself could yet be persuaded to work under Freund despite being sporting director and on the board at Monaco.

Luis Campos tells @Rothensenflamme he joined PSG on a three-year deal because he’s “convinced we can do something extraordinary”. As previously reported, PSG & #CFC downplaying idea Campos could leave Paris for Stamford Bridge. Christoph Freund favourite for sporting director.
Even as an advisor, working alongside a sporting director, Campos would not be able to join Chelsea without buying himself out of his PSG contract.
Campos also reveals he wasn’t totally happy with the last transfer window. PSG failed to get Inter’s Milan Skriniar on deadline day. Club also considered Lucas Hernandez earlier in window but he didn’t want to leave Bayern.

Todd Boehly has held talks with Luis Campos, as first reported by @TimesSport. Campos is effectively freelance despite being football advisor to PSG. He's also employed by Celta. Protection clauses in Campos' PSG contract prevent him working for another big club in parallel.
Campos would have to pay PSG to end his contract, with the club "quite surprised" at #CFC links and the level of personal background briefing from Campos' team. PSG feel the summer window was a success despite missing out on Inter's Milan Skriniar.
But sources concede there was tension between Campos and ex-director of sport Antero Henrique, who was charged with spearheading outgoings.

Chelsea have sacked Thomas Tuchel. He was informed this morning. The decision is not only down to mixed results or a reaction to the poor Dinamo loss alone. It’s part of a wider summer of strategic change, too.
The new American owners had every intention of sticking with Tuchel when they first joined. And by spending £270m+ they backed him with a record spend. But there were doubts (and eventually friction) over how he handled the ownership transition.
Tuchel was given more responsibility and ultimately authority. To some degree every manager wants this, but with Boehly as interim sporting director Tuchel’s role became pivotal. Boehly and Tuchel were in daily contact, often for hours. There was a constant stream of calls.

Strong words from PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi at Football Talks. Reiterates opposition to the ESL, says some big clubs are "scared of competition" & has a dig (without naming them) at Barcelona's debt. Khelaifi also confirms PSG is worth €4bn having bought club for €70m.
🗣️ On European Super League: "You call it the Super League. I call it the non-Super League. Football needs to be developed in a way that it respects small, medium & big clubs, & also fans... some clubs don't want medium clubs to get any bigger. They're scared of competition...
🗣️"The ecosystem of football is bigger than just two or three clubs. That's very important. The message has been sent to everyone that nobody can break the ecosystem of football...
