#TechnologyFrustrations... a (probably) rather long thread ... So for a few weeks now I have been totally unable to print to either of my two @HPSupport wireless printers. From my HP laptop. Suspect a @Windows update may be to blame, but don't know for sure because none....
... of the virtual or online tools can say what the issue is with either of them. So in desperation I have contacted HP Support here on Twitter. A DM (because we are following each other since a previous problem back in 2018) from them advised that a response may take up to 2 hrs
... and the @WhatsApp HP support line also apologises that it may take 'several minutes' for a live agent to get back to me (this was 20 mins ago). Now I am NOT having a go at @HPSupport , it is what it is. BUT I just wonder, this kind of service delay seems to be happening ...
... more and more, and I want to try to understand WHY. Is it because the world (or perhaps just the UK?) is slowly filing up with older people who have now left paid employment? Is it because the number of younger techies has dropped as older ppl leave the workplace?
... or is it that there are enough people out there to do these jobs, but they were laid off during the damn pandemic, and never re-employed? Suspect the answer lies somewhere between the two ... what do you all (whoever sees this) think? Am I alone in thinking a 2 hour wait...
... is just awful, and NOT good customer service? More and more you see these 'virtual assistants' that are not people and are pretty much useless, total waste of time. I have never yet found one that helped in any way. It's the same with phone help lines - even the @TheAA_UK
... now make you go to an App on your Smart Phone to request roadside help, as my hubby discovered a while back when he had a problem en route somewhere. He gave up & drove home in 'limp mode' as he simply could not get through to a human being. Madness, &potentially dangerous.
I would be interested to hear thoughts on the above. I don't think it's just me, is it?

#PrintingSaga Finally, after two days and over 3.5 hours on a WhatsApp chat session with @HPSupport, I have the answer to my printing issues. But no thanks to HP support!! Turns out, for whatever reason, the inkjet printer could only see my mobile phone network/hotspot, NOT...
... our main @virginmedia router, which has always been our wireless network. The very patient & (I thought) helpful support agent in North India took me through so many troubleshooting procedures over the two sessions (had to break off the first b/c of prior engagement after....
... 2 hours plus so they kept it open for 24 hrs) but eventually concluded that it was a hardware issue & i would need to take it to an @HP repair centre. Said I didn't know any so gave my postcode & they gave me a list of places in London, Norwich, Essex.. miles away & not ...
@HPSupport I have two HP printers, one was connected to HPSmart, one was not. I cannot get either of them to print. I am using Windows 11. HP smart knows the printer i had connected but it says 'status unknown' , printer shows as offline and not connected. I also use HPPrint..
... and before you ask, yes I have tried both windows AND HP support and neither seem to know what the problem is or how to resolve it. Need to speak to a human being....
I am connected to @HPInstantInk too, pay monthly to have print cartridges sent to me as I need them. Even that cannot find my printer, says it's offline.
Fellow authors, creatives... do you think it's wise to tweet your policital opinions using your author/creative twitter account, or should you keep politics out of your creative timeline? Do you think it might lose you followers, readers, even work, or hurt your cause?
.. and I guess the second part to that question is, would it bother you that you might be losing sales or followers or hurting your cause by being political? Because we all have our views, but does it always help to air them in public? I don't know, TBH.
I'd like to thank everyone who responded in some way to the above question (even those who were judgemental or rude) - I wasn't expecting that level of response TBH, but it has been interesting & illuminating & I've learned a lot. Obviously it is a subject close to many hearts!
