Defendants obtained at least $250 million, says Luger. “This is the floor,” investigation is continuing.
Luger says defendants claimed to serve “125 fake meals.”
These are only the “first set of charges,” Luger said.
Millions in kickbacks allegedly paid to scheme participants.
Luger says FoF set up meal sides solely to steal money.
“Countless” fake reimbursement forms signed by defendants, Luger said. They allegedly used a random name generator website to put phony names in for kids.
“These children were simply invented,” Luger said.
Luger said Aimee Bock sued state afte the Minn Department of Education began raising questions about FoF spending.
One defendant allegedly claimed to be feeding 2,000 kids per week in Willmar, which has a school district enrollment of 4,500.
$50m in property seized, Luger said.
Meal *sites* This is the largest COVID fraud prosecuted to date, says DOJ.
In a statement, Aimee Bock's attorney Kenneth Udoibok said "An indictment does not signify guilty or innocence. It’s the beginning of the criminal process. I’m surprised that Ms. Bock has been indicted because she did nothing worthy of a criminal indictment."

Some good news on the #greenwoodfire in NE Minn. Latest estimate from thermal imaging camera is 8,862 acres, meaning it didn't grow in last 24hrs. Clark McCreedy with the interagency incident mgmt team tells @MPRnews higher humidity, lower temps, cloud cover are helping.
McCreedy also says local volunteer fire departments really stepped up to protect cabins & homes along Hwy 2 as the fire spread. No injuries reported & no buildings burned.
Also good news on the John Ek & Whelp fires in the BWCA. Sarah Shapiro with the U.S. Forest Service tells @MPRnews that John Ek is at 727 acres (down from 1500 Sat) based on better info from thermal cameras. Whelp remains at 50 acres. Weather is cooperating.
