Professors who write books can't assign them to students? @FoxNews is grasping here.
We should call out overpaid and irresponsible law professors (mostly at elite ultra-expensive private law schools) but @RepKatiePorter was not one of them. foxnews.com/politics/katie…#FoxNews
I coauthored a legal ethics casebook with Judge John Noonan. For years I used it in class.
Ditto for a securities litigation casebook I coauthored with Maggie Sachs and Donna Nagy.
Ditto for my OUP book Getting the Government America Deserves.
The dean gave permission every time.
If @FoxNews wants to nail unethical law professors in California, how about torture memo author John Yoo at Berkeley? Or, if you want a law professor who supported the crime of insurrection, how about this guy? abc7.com/john-eastman-c…
So, @FoxNews attacks @RepKatiePorter for her salary before government service, yet they celebrate this racist who's paid well over $300K a year to say her Black students are inferior, as others call that"academic freedom."
Go figure. newsweek.com/amy-wax-tucker…
Some people on the fringe think their "academic freedom" means I can't go after them on Twitter, and that I have to back off as soon as they accuse me of "cancel culture." Sorry, but it doesn't work that way.
I've been accused of "cancel culture" for demanding retraction of 1) bogus empirical studies showing widespread "Democrat election fraud" in 2020 and 2) an article using "game theory" to justify WW2 sex slavery in the Pacific as consensual prostitution. Go figure.

It's been almost two years since @JoeBiden won the presidential election, but the BIG LIE WON'T DIE.
Voters will have to flush down a lot of bull---- this November. cnn.com/2022/09/22/pol…
Amazing. The journal Public Choice published this paper full of errors promoting the BIG LIE about Democrat "election fraud." They should retract it.
Again, crazies will accuse us of "cancel culture" but a lie is still a lie. statmodeling.stat.columbia.edu/2022/04/03/the…
"The editors of Public Choice should be ashamed of themselves to publish something like this.... They can publish articles claiming the Loch Ness monster is real, pi = 3, Jesus was married, the moon landing was fake..."
Indeed. "Peer review" once again has become a sick joke.
"The fetishization of intellect displaces moral and political values, leading liberals to act as if both left and right are always legitimate–as long as each position is argued with pizazz and wit."
Exactly right.
And stupid. slate.com/news-and-polit… via @Slate
I'm not particularly liberal, but I have a lot more respect for @SenWhitehouse and other liberals in Congress than I do for "liberals" in the legal academy who are more interested in intellectual games and their own egos than in the difference between right and wrong.
Say what you will about Justice Kavanaugh, but he's a heck of a lot smarter than any "liberal" who told other liberals they should support Kavanaugh's nomination for the Supreme Court. That's why he's there and they're not.
This is a step in the right direction. Music schools still require students to study endless quantities of European music (even Gregorian chant)(snooze..zzzz) while relegating music from other cultures to second class status. That needs to change or students simply won't show up.
Full disclosure of my personal interest in this matter. This Mexican music festival was organized by a @UMN_Music graduate student working with Professor Karen Painter experts.umn.edu/en/persons/kar…
Waiting for someone to submit that Data Practices Act request to find out how much music professors of color get paid vis a vis the White men.....
What does @MNSecofState Steve Simon have to do with George Soros? We aren't supposed to vote for
Simon because they are both Jewish?
Every time I call out a liar, they accuse me of "cancel culture."
Can't wait to cancel some candidates in November. jpost.com/diaspora/antis…
There are people, including fringe academics, who say that the Holocaust and other war crimes didn't happen. I will demand that those statements be retracted. Every nut in the world can accuse me of "cancel culture" but I will still demand that those statements be retracted.
Antisemitic conspiracy theories are proliferating in political campaigns at the same time as revisionist "scholarship" on war crimes and crimes against humanity are proliferating in academia.
It's time to put a stop to this insanity before it's too late. splcenter.org/fighting-hate/…
Outrageous. The United States will surely protest. Meanwhile at the University of California Berkeley, law students are taught constitutional law by a lawyer who wrote Justice Department memos authorizing... torture. apnews.com/article/ukrain…
Torture along with sex slavery and rape is among the war crimes now freely advocated for in the “academy” under the doctrine of academic freedom. At least Putin knows where to find a legal expert if he needs one.
In 2008 I wrote a book on government ethics calling the torture memos immoral and illegal. Some people said I shouldn't criticize a "colleague" which meant any lawyer who ever worked for the Bush Administration. Then and now I say the "colleague" argument can pound sand.
The abortion debate has nothing to do with states' rights. We've known that all along. It has everything to do with denying women's rights. washingtonpost.com/opinions/2022/…
Roe v. Wade caused STD's? Huh?
Now they're just looking for an excuse to pretend they are protecting women.
And these people call such nonsense legal "scholarship"? scholarship.law.upenn.edu/faculty_schola…
This same man as a "peer review" journal editor published an article by another professor that used "game theory" to call WW2 sex slaves willing prostitutes, then attacked those of us, including two Nobel prize winners, who called for retraction. Sick. leiterlawschool.typepad.com/leiter/2021/02…
