2/ February 2020 members of Association of American Physicians and Surgeons were already claiming they had a cure for covid (HCQ) there was no need for any measures ImageImage
3/ AAPS members Vliet and McCullough repurposed the Truth for Health Foundation into a religious covid disinformation group promoting alternative treatments

This was with Bill Cook founder of the Black Robe Regiment, a religious militia organisation. Cook preaches about witches
4/ Cook is also responsible for book burnings you may have seen clips of. Black Robe Regiment believes civil war is inevitable and call to prepare for it, they are also close to Michael Flynn and Rodger Stone, key individuals in the attempt to overthrow US democracy

This came from Philip Thomas of Bristol uni, calculation valued 1 "healthy" lockdown death to be worth more than 5 elderly or vulnerable deaths from covid
14/ Thomas was invited by Sunak to model a road map out of lockdown for the UK treasury, GDP was prioritised over covid deaths, calculation didn't include economic disruption of mass infection

We went from open schools being essential for Herd immunity to claims

They won't engage in the actual evidence of leaked files, chat logs etc

Got to say so far its been pretty pathetic, so far it's attacking me for calling for "restrictions on children" in 2020
Balloux was busy claiming I wanted schools shut for ever
3/ I point out that myself and the NEU were calling to follow Denmarks initial school reopening plans providing a screenshot of just that from May 2020

🧵Spoken to quite a few academics who have faced incredible hostility and attempts to mess with their jobs for raising legitimate concerns

The problem is this is exactly the same line antivaxxers and GBD types use

Overton window should be about politics not science
2/ It's the demonstration of the politicisation of science, which is exactly what certain lobbyists have wanted for years because then it comes down to who has the biggest bank balance, media and political connections

There are bad faith individuals out there, specifically the
3/ clear disinformation groups, the ones peddling microchips in vaccines, magnetism, 5G etc nonsense, some of these have links to well known institutions, or previous track records but I think most ppl could agree that they've left the world of serious academia for something else

This would be the Daily Mail who had to print a retraction after my complaint to the regulator for claiming only 1 teacher had died of covid

The Mails who have journalists actively working with disinformation groups to oppose measures

Not exactly a neutral voice
And the Mails choice of experts
Karol "no second wave" Sikora whose private healthcare company was profiting from picking up slack from an over pressures NHS..
Until the company went bust, don't worry Sikora still paid himself £100,000

Newest BMJ inquiry piece looks at modelling, how to improve it and how to provide better communication around modelling

Yet RW press who have also complained about modelling just want to attack and name call the authors
Some of the points made in the BMJ piece actually back up some complaints the Mail has made about modelling in the past,yet they can't allow themselves to admit there is anything of merit in the BMJ piece. They just care about attacking the authors
It's about making sure their readers think that there is nothing of value to be heard from the authors, they slap on the hardline comment to signpost to readers that they should distrust and dislike the authors, they also know this will stir up attacks on the authors

While we are on the topic of questioning UK schools policy...

Reminder, at the start of December 2020 the DfE told CEV education workers they shouldn't shield and should return to work, right as Alpha was ramping up towards the deadliest weeks of the whole pandemic
Also in December 2020, children in CEV households were told they were still expected to attend.

Fans of focused protection were so busy calling to remove measures for everyone else they forgot to speak up for the CEV education workers and families

Some professionals working with the gov kept predicting cases were about to peak, test and trace was collapsing

While staff shortages were so bad DfE decided to risk CEV worker's to keep schools open we were being told there wasn't significant transmission in schools
