1/ Contrary to its name, changes in the Data Protection and Information Bill further shifts the balance of power towards commercial interests 2/ The bill gives the Secretary of State the power to add to the list of interests that can access your childrens data through secondary legislation avoiding parliamentary scrutiny Image

1/ The thing is, the UK is institutionally not curious about identifying harms directly caused by covid

For instance it's been a year since they stopped collecting and publishing data on long covid 2/ Many families of children with long covid have faced gaslighting and struggled to access meaningful care

🧵Cass Review
Not had a chance to read the whole thing yet, but have had time to look through the main points

What positives can be taken from it? The time spent on waiting lists was identified as a major issue, all children's services are massively underfunded at the moment 2/ I would like to think that this will lead to an investment in all children's support services like CAHMS, more pastoral support in schools etc

That would be a positive outcome, regardless of what else is included in the review, unfortunately real terms cuts are the reality

Miriam Cates and Ranil Jayawardena's offices were very insistent that speaking at this conference didn't constitute "sharing a platform" or speaking "alongside" the other speakers

Cates' office even threatened legal action if those words were used Interesting how Tory MPs and RW media consiser going on marches to call for a ceasefire in Gaza will have ppl labeled as being part of a hate march, but speaking at the same conference as multiple ppl named in a EU report on US and Russian dark money shouldnt draw associations Image

🧵This article by Camilla Turner is a great example of how antivax talking points are laundered into the mainstream by those trying to claim excess deaths are being caused by vaccines

Group of MPs call for data to be released insinuating there's a cover up Image 2/ They claim they need data on dose and deaths, worth noting this has come from McVeys anti-lockdown APPG and UsForThem whose founder is supporting Bridgen and RFK Jr Image

1/ "We have to learn to live with covid"
Sunetra Gupta said the West needed to become more accepting of deaths

Now her supporters are baffled by excess deaths, blaming them on vaccines even though most the UK haven't had access to a booster for over 2 years 2/ They said we should just let covid circulate in schools, now her supporters struggle to understand why there are high absence rates, blaming "immunity debt" or simple claiming parents no longer care about sending their kids to school

1/Spoke to a school union rep yesterday, they accidentally saw an email from HR concerned about how covid was causing staffing issues

HR expressed suprise many staff were still testing

"While we can't staff from testing, perhaps we should remind them they don't need to test" 2/ This is a school where due to long covid a number of staff are on long term phased returns, have had to reduce responsibilities, or have developed ongoing health problems

Student absence is high, lots of fever or GI symptoms, third of some classes are absent

The argument from ppl at UKHSA is that there's no benefit of cutting transmission in schools, that children need to be infected infected each wave to prevent vulnerable ppl being infected

Schools are still a herd immunity experiment This is what those in charge of public health are currently thinking

🧵This isn't a suprise considering the direction this government has been heading in and ties in with changes to Prevent

Worth noting this is coming from Goves office, as with Braverman we see the NatCon influence working its way into government policy Image 2/ Prevent training now specifies certain extreme far-right views as terrorist ideology whilst also labelling the left-wing as a whole to be against "British values" bylinetimes.com/2023/10/19/ter…

🧵I think serious questions need to be asked if it's appropriate for the UKs clinical lead for covid in children to be coauthoring multiple papers with Hoeg and Prasad, both have an awful track record of making misleading claims, particularly in regards to vaccines

2/ Hoeg was one of the key people responsible for massively exaggerating the risk of vax myocarditis in children, papers publication was headlines by Turner of the Telegraph

Awful disinformation that damaged parents confidence and emboldened antivaxxers

To start off, how covid disinformation has pivoted to antinet zero with Together Declaration organising astroturf ULEZ protests with far right groups, and how this is used to advance conspiracy theories
bylinetimes.com/2023/09/04/the… 2/ How "I'm not antivax, just anti covid vax" Kingsley of UsForThem/Together, and linked Safer To Wait are now branching out to discourage measles and HPV vax

Somehow UsForThem are now on the covid inquiries Children’s Forum

1/ #r4today Hopkins was asked why the covid booster wasn't being offered to more people
She said most people had a good level of immunity, when it was pointed out that some ppl hadn't had a booster for more than a year, she said coming into contact with covid would boost immunity 2/ Which doesn't actually answer the question which was, if immunity is waning why not provide boosters to more people?
Hopkins didn't explain why boosters couldn't be offered to more ppl

🧵Free schools are ideological rather than evidence based
Simply creating a new school outside of LA control really isn't a strategy to improve education, its a strategy to force an artificial market onto schools

This was prioritised above all else 2/ Free schools proved to be disproportionately expensive, some had temporary sites before gaining new sites, quite a few have failed and closed after a few years

🧵How disinformation works, last week this paper on the impact of financial instability on children was repackaged by Telegraph to imply it was a sign of direct harm from restrictions 2/ Then we get the letter to the inquiry, covered by Telegraph and groups like UsForThem

The economic study is now fully repackaged as revealing how restrictions have damaged the emotional development if children Image

🧵Previous CLoCk studies and paper by Ladhani and co, have a tendency to get a lot of press coverage

This papers has been out for 5 days and there's been no reporting, many authors haven't even tweeted the study... Image 2/ One of Ladhanis last tweets was suggesting there was no evidence of a child having worse outcomes from a 2nd or 3rd infection,

Now his latest study has shown no difference between first infections or reinfections in regards to Long Covid ImageImage

🧵Teachers Strikes and disinformation, this figure of 140k missing "ghost children" who never returned to education is an outright lie that has become an alternative "fact" of the pandemic 2/ It's an important case study regarding the disinformation pipelinrle, how questionable opaque think tanks churn out disinformation for politicians and media to repeat ad nauseum until its ground into the public consciousness

Ppl will claim its protecting womens rights, but Florida is focused on abortion bans and prosecuting women for wanting bodily autonomy Image

@CamillaTominey talks of a "sinister agenda" would this be the same Tominey who attended the private meeting of MPs and journalists to launch HART, a group of vile antivaxxers and conspiracy theorists like Yeadon and Bob Moran? The ppl who radicalised Bridgen? Yes i have the full internal HART chats which shows @CamillaTominey involvement in supporting medical disinformation which has led to preventable deaths

Now this is a fucking sinister agenda⬇️

🧵After Tim Stanleys article praising Tucker Carlson we now have Fraser Nelson praising Georgio Meloni ImageImage 2/ Apparently she is veering from the far right script by talking about declining birth rates, God and Motherhood

But by doing this Nelson ignores the dominant narratives of today's international far right Image

It's interesting how the narrative on children and covid by those working with the UK government can flip without previous comments being called out

2022: immunity debt caused by lack of mixing 👀 Image
