The GOP is so “America first” that their “inspirational video” rolling out their “commitment to America plan” uses stock footage and images filmed in Russia and Europe.
This party has become a cartoon of an actual U.S. political party. Like a bad SNL skit of people so treasonous and incompetent they don’t even bother to hide it anymore.
The East Baton Rouge school system in Louisiana is accused of tricking hundreds of students into attending a religious event veiled as a college fair. According to students, boys were encouraged to do ‘macho acts’ while girls were advised to forgive men who rape and assault them.
They are being sued by a collective group of parents whose teenagers say they were traumatized by this event, which was called ‘The Day of Hope,’ and included bizarre reenactments of suicide as well as stories perpetuating misogynistic and anti-LGBT tropes.
The same people who accuse the left of wanting to “indoctrinate our kids” are the ones who fund organizations that hold events like this and resort to essentially kidnapping high school seniors to force a bunch of pseudo-spiritual rhetoric down their throats.
BREAKING: An Arizona judge just ruled that a near-total abortion ban from 1864—before Arizona EVEN BECAME A STATE—can take effect immediately, citing Dobbs in her decision. Are you registered to vote yet?
Her decision says that because of Dobbs, the sole reason for the injunction blocking the old law is gone and she should allow it to be enforced. Under that law, anyone who performs a surgical abortion or provides drugs for a medical abortion can face 2 to 5 years in prison.
“The Court finds an attempt to reconcile 50 years of legislative activity procedurally improper in the context of the motion and record before it. While there may be legal questions the parties seek to resolve re AZ statutes on abortion, those questions are not for us to decide.”
BREAKING: Last year, multiple parents filed a lawsuit against Merrick Garland over a memo he issued to school boards that sparked Republican outrage. A Trump appointed judge just dismissed the case. This is hands down the worst week Trump has ever had court-wise.
The judge tossed the case because the parents simply misread the memo. “The alleged AG Policy is not regulatory, proscriptive, or compulsory in nature because it does not impose any regulations, requirements, or enforcement actions on individuals,” she wrote.
The memo did not mention “parents,” let alone “target them for retribution.” It simply reported a spike of threats and harassment against schools. At the time, schools faced protests over COVID policies and policies re: transgender students, but the memo didn’t cite this context.
BREAKING: Judge Cannon responds to 11th Circuit Court by simply amending her order to bring it into compliance with their ruling. All investigations can now proceed without any further delays or impediments. Thank you, 11th Circuit Court of Appeals!
Aileen Cannon’s response is one page long that basically says, “My bad.” This woman still needs to be removed from the bench and investigated. But this is a great outcome for everyone but Trump.
These are the two sections she has now omitted from her previous order:
No, you cannot blink and make documents declassified. And even if you could, it wouldn’t make stealing top secret documents, removing them from a secure facility, housing them in your resort, or being caught with them 19 months after leaving office any less ILLEGAL.
Let’s go through this again:
—The documents belonged to the federal government (aka The American people)
—Former presidents cannot declassify documents, and not even current presidents can declassify NUCLEAR SECRETS OF FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS
—Trump did not declassify anything
—Former presidents do not have executive privilege
—Executive privilege does not belong to former presidents; it belongs TO THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH (which is currently led by Joe Biden, who waived it for all things related to TFG)
—Classified or not, stealing the docs is CRIMINAL
I love @RepRaskin so much and this is why. The man is astoundingly brilliant and pure fire. Just watch this.
He also volunteered to be on the @January6thCmte despite having just lost his 25 year old son Tommy, who he loved more than anything, to suicide just one week earlier. Jamie Raskin, you are a beacon of strength, hope, and true patriotism and we are all in your debt. Thank you!
From his book, ‘Unthinkable’:
“Our porch is now like one of those makeshift memorials on a highway to someone lost in a car accident. There are white roses everywhere, stacks of books, wrapped packages, long handwritten letters touched by rain…”
