Today #RadicalTim Michels is floundering, trying to hide his extreme anti-choice agenda after months of being the #1 fan of WI's 1849 abortion ban—which has no exceptions for rape or incest.
@michelsforgov, you showed us who you are. We believed you the first time.
A breakdown:
@michelsforgov Remember: Tim Michels has publicly, explicitly supported abortion bans with no exceptions for rape and incest for years. Here’s the video. He’s funded groups that advocate for his position. They’ve endorsed him. It’s clear.
Today, right-wing radio host Dan O’Donnell asked Tim Michels if he would sign an abortion ban bill that had exceptions for rape and incest. Tim Michels lied and said he would.
Just two weeks ago, Tim Michels said he will not “soften” his stance on rape and incest exceptions, and would hold his extreme views “until the bitter end.”
For months, he said Wisconsin's 1849 abortion ban (again, which has no exceptions for rape or incest) is “an exact mirror” of his views on abortion.
So what is Tim Michels trying to do here?
Tim Michels and Republicans know: most Wisconsinites (yes, including Republicans) support access to abortion. Furthermore, they believe that Wisconsin should allow someone to obtain a legal abortion if they became pregnant as a result of rape or incest.
Michels is saying whatever it takes to win, even lying to voters. But we know he’s a MAGA extremist. Because he told us so.
Michels is still an extremist. He supports a near-total abortion ban in WI. His views haven’t changed.
Tim Michels is radical—and wrong for Wisconsin.

🧵Last week, Ron Johnson—who cosponsored national abortion ban legislation EIGHT times—suggested “a referendum” to determine if Wisconsin’s nearly universal abortion ban should be overturned.
Today, Gov. @Tony4WI called a special session to make that referendum possible.
@Tony4WI First things first: Governor Tony Evers is Wisconsinites’ last line of defense when it comes to radical MAGA policies that would further restrict abortion access in the state.
His GOP opponent, #RadicalTim Michels, wants to go even further than Wisconsin’s archaic and immoral 1849 abortion ban. Michels doesn’t even believe there should be an exception in cases of rape and incest.
Ron DeSantis, who is in close contention with Ron Johnson for the “worst Ron in politics” title, is coming to Green Bay today to stump for RoJo and Tim Michels before the Packers game.
Tim Michels campaigning with Ron DeSantis—one of the worst, most extreme governors in America—sends a message: in deep-purple Wisconsin, Tim Michels wants to govern in the DeSantis style.
Tim: Wisconsin is not Florida.
What will DeSantis’s visit, right before a Packers game, do?
Spread brazen lies and radical rhetoric across Green Bay.
Divide Wisconsinites and encourage the worst, most extreme MAGA faction of the GOP.
THREAD: If, in 54 days, Republicans win supermajorities in Wisconsin’s legislature, they’ll have the power to sabotage democracy in 2024. Ultra-gerrymandered maps + ultra-MAGA Republicans = danger. Read on—and help us raise $3k so we can beat them back. secure.actblue.com/donate/wisgopt…
Last week, I raised the alarm about the threat of GOP legislative supermajorities in Wisconsin with @chrislhayes. Here’s that @allinwithchris interview—if you have a sec, turn on the sound and check it out:
Chris pointed out the obvious: Wisconsin is a 50/50 state. Biden won in 2020. We have a Democratic governor. How is it possible that Republicans are on the cusp of 2/3 supermajorities in the state legislature?
The answer: gerrymandering—helped by right-wing judges.
DEADLINE: In Wisconsin’s Gov race—which shapes voting rights in the tipping-point electoral college state—we’re showing voters how radical the GOP candidate is. It’s working. Our end-of-month goal = $7k by midnight 8/31. Read on, chip in, & RT! secure.actblue.com/donate/auguste…
Tim Michels is the GOP nominee for Governor of Wisconsin. The core of his whole primary campaign was Trump’s endorsement—which he got by championing a near-total abortion ban, AR-15s for 18yos, and subverting election administration. nytimes.com/2022/08/09/us/…
Now, Tim Michels wants to forget his radical positions–because he’ll say anything to win. But it won’t work, because we’ve got the receipts, and we’re not afraid to use them.
Clinton Anderson—45th Assembly District candidate—started his career working with a shelter for survivors of domestic violence. Because the Wisconsin GOP opposes red flag laws that could restrict abusers’ access to guns, his clients were at higher risk. clintonforassembly.com
Now @MarkForWI — Mark Spreitzer, running for state Senate — is up, explaining how Gov. Evers @Tony4WI has a plan to use our major state budget surplus to send folks a tax cut and bring down gas prices… but WI GOP gerrymandered legislature is blocking it.
Leah Spicer—@leahspicerforwi—moved home to the small farm where she grew up, became her town clerk, and runs a restaurant with her husband, all while raising 3 kids… and running for the 51st Assembly seat! spicerforwisconsin.com
