“My family is super cautious. We wear N95s everywhere. But on weekends, my kid plays travel hockey and is unmasked while playing.”

“I’m taking Covid really seriously and advocate that everyone mask. Let me just take off my mask to give a speech about Covid sequelae at this academic conference I’m attending.”

“My kids are at school. I’m a little nervous, because a recent survey showed only about 10% of students and teachers are masking. My kids are eating unmasked indoors. I could agitate for change, but I’d rather not rock the boat. The teacher might think I’m difficult.”

“I’m a doctor and I take Covid seriously. I’ll put on a surgical mask for any patient who requests it.”

“I just took a 4-hour flight wearing a P100 elastomeric and goggles. My seat mate has coughed several times. But my CO2 meter says 800ppm, so time for a drink.”

Covid doesn’t care that you wear a mask 98% of the time or make flowery proclamations.
Just like unplanned pregnancy, Covid infection happens when you let your guard down.
Mask up to keep Covid out of your body. N95-type+ is best.
Your brain is counting on you.

Don’t count on biologics as a post-hoc fixer. Monoclonal antibodies won’t be galloping to anyone’s defence as new variants emerge.
The game is prevention or a gamble with your long term health.

I have just filed a request for the Ontario Human Rights Commission to initiate a public interest inquiry into the dangers presented by a removal of Covid-19 protections.
A copy of my letter is below. 🧵

Dear OHRC team,
As you are no doubt aware, Ontario has recently revised its public health guidance regarding protections for the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

The removal of protections puts Ontarians with disabilities at elevated risk of illness and long-term harm from acute infection ("Long Covid" or, within the medical literature, "post-acute sequelae of Covid").
