8 badass women who have shifted my views in the field of marketing and who are, in my opinion, non-negotiable follows.
@AdriSheares is a social media, digital PR and business owning badass whose recent research and thread on how Gen Z uses TikTok as a search engine is one example of how she pursues new avenues and stays consistently up-to-date on her field.

@heyalexfriedman whose knowledge on business building and content creation helps business owners take actionable steps as they build their brand.

@rosemaryegbo - a content marketing superstar who is constantly sharing knowledge with her community in a variety of formats. Her recent thread on community building was particularly applicable to my business goals.

@KateBour. Her newsletter is the first one I recommend my students subscribe to. She brings the world of psychology and makes it applicable for marketers. She is also the reason I yell "talk to your customers" in almost every marketing lecture I do.

@amandanat - who offers so much free advice and information to the community that adds value. From zero-click content to helping you identify who you are speaking to, her threads are fantastic for developing your own insights

@kristaseiden - from coach to someone I feel lucky to call my friend Krista fights a regular uphill battle of convincing us all that Google Analytics 4 is in fact not the devastating blow we seem to think it is.

I have endless respect for @jyllsaskingales. She brought a whole new perspective to #PPCChat and has shifted my mindset on topics relating to PPC. She's also endlessly transparent and works to elevate voices in our community with her ppc zone initiative.

@areej_abuali In an industry dominated by men, her initiative to create a safe and inclusive space for many of us shifted the landscape of SEO for me - @techseowomen made me feel like I belonged. Her commitment to helping our industry is inspiring.

A new week, a new 7 things thread.

Seven signs that list of experts you're about to post is problematic 👇
1. You're making a list to just make a list.

Why are you making a list? Why have the list? What is the end goal of the list? Do you need the list? Is it tradition? Is it providing value? Is it meant to elevate voices? Why?

If you can't answer - don't make the list.
2. Your list is based on a recommendation or competitive process and you aren't vetting it.

If your list is based on community votes and/or a competition and it still pops out a list of people who other than age and hair colour look the same, you should vet the list.

Google Ads Audits - A 🧵

Join me as I audit an ads account.

Disclaimer: There are so many ways to do this. Mine is not the only way. Nor is it necessarily the best way.

#ppcchat #googleads #marketingtwitter
Second disclaimer: There is a distinct difference between best practices and simply different ways of doing things. I try to find reasoning behind choices. The client may have requested things, etc. So I'm never harsh with my report. There's lots of unknowns.
Set a date range you keep consistent the whole time and fix your columns. This particular account has only been live since April so I'm using up until May 30th.

I also fix my columns: impr, clicks, ctr, avg cpc, cost, conv, conv rate, S-IS metrics, analytics metrics.

Round two of dissecting "why this Basecamp situation is problematic" from an empathetic manager's perspective.

Today's message is David's response to the Verge article: world.hey.com/dhh/let-it-all…
Again, I'm an outsider and a privileged person. My take is not the whole picture nor should it be considered as such.
I'm going to leave the part where they left out the communications that caused the shift in the first place. That was a choice - you could argue if it was poor or not, but that's not going to get solved here. They made a business choice to not disclose what caused it.
