It was just his luck that he managed to get himself into this predicament, Cale thought bitterly.
While out on patrol, his troop was ambushed in a surprise attack from enemy forces, and in the midst of it, he had somehow gotten separated from them. Because of course he did.

Though, knowing them, they were probably relieved to have been forcefully rid of his presence.
They had never tried getting along with him, and was never in a hurry to get along with them either.

Despite that, Cale still wished he was with someone else at least.
He was still on edge from the initial attack, and being alone in potentially hostile territory only served to worsen his paranoia.

If he was with someone, perhaps he wouldn’t have felt as on edge. Safety in numbers, and all that.
He hadn't managed to come out completely unscathed however, as the cuts on his side and arms reminded.

By some draw of fate, he was able to happen upon a seemingly abandoned cave, and he clambered in, gracelessly collapsing on the floor.
It was only when he heard an inhalation of breath mere feet away from him that he realized that he wasn’t alone.

Much to his surprise, there sat Commander Choi, clearly battered and bruised from a previous battle.
Going to meet his eyes, he almost missed the sharpened teeth the man quickly covered with a hand. Almost, being the keyword.

Seeing the way his eyes had immediately tailed over his wounds, then his neck, Cale felt something click in his mind.
All the times he saw the commander vehemently avoid the clinics filled with injured soliders every few weeks suddenly made much more sense.

Plus, the glowing red tinted eyes were pretty damning as well.

At this point, he had no fucks to give it care about such trivial things.
“So you’re a vampire? I knew someone like you couldn’t possibly be human.” he said it simply, without a trace of judgment in his tone, merely stating a fact.

“...You should leave.” Came the hoarse voice.
Really, he was too tired to participate in the inevitable inane back-and-forth conversation to come. Was it to pretend to not have seen him and ignore him instead?

“Can’t,” he decided after a moment, not wanting to prolong the inevitable and just get on with it.
“I need to wait for the world to feel like it’s stopped spinning first.”

A wave of fatigue brushed through him as he raked a hand through his hair, being made aware of just how much he pushed himself this time.
“Go rest somewhere else. You shouldn’t be here.”

He felt a brief spike of annoyance at the man’s words.

Considering the way the he all but ogled at the blood dripping down his arm, surely he was smart enough to realize that most people weren't able to recover as fast as him?
He glanced over to the wounds on choi Han, wondering to himself as to why they hadn’t been healed.

After all, his rapid healing factor was known to many, it being one of the key reasons he was able to continuously fight without rest.
…though, if he were low on blood, that would explain why more of his functions werent working, he mused, remembering the other wasn’t quite human.

The blood lost must’ve gotten to him more than he thought.
Seeing as they were in enemy territory with an unknown amount of time before they’d be found, he begrudgingly bottled up whatever lingering complex feelings arose to ponder them another time.
Even if he wasn’t exactly thrilled at the idea that came to mind, he knew it was their best bet at quickly escaping the area.

“Do you wish to drink my blood?”
With but a few uttered words, Cale could see just how affected the man in front of him was, eyes dilating rapidly as they made eye contact once more.

All at once, Cale felt the temperature in the room drop to freezing levels, as a heady pressure was placed onto him.
It then drew away quickly, like it never existed in the first place.

Choi Han’s hands clenched down harder on the ground, trembling slightly. Following the trail of his arms to his hands, Cale realized that the ground around him had begin to crack.
“...Don’t.” Came the whispered warning, a mixture of threat and desperation coating his tone.
His breath came out in uneven patterns now.

He seemed to be clearly pained at the self restraint he desperately maintained, not wanting to hurt a solider under his watch, regardless of what history they had.
(Deeper down, a more sadistic part of him found his pain quite amusing.)

“Are you not tempted?”

“You have no idea just how much you being here affects me, I can barely control myself…”

Cale felt a twinge of petty triumph at the fact he was right.
The glow in his eyes actively grew more intense.

“Actively bleeding from your wounds… the blood seemingly taunting me.”

“Gods,’ he laughed mirthlessly.
“You’re like a full course meal set infront of a starving beggar, the tantalizing aroma wafting through, so close, yet so far out of reach. Nothing but a small barrier dividing us.”

“Like the richest of wines, and the sweetest of meads… You smell delectable, and it’s torture.”
The chill in the air seemed to come back for a moment as his eyes darkened.

“I can feel my instincts trying to take over. Right now, I want nothing more than to go to where you are and sink my fangs into your throat.”
He let out a small inhuman noise, but one clearly of distress.

“But I can’t, it wouldn’t be right…”

Cale takes a moment, momentarily surprised by his reaction, before he states “…And if I were to remove that barrier?”
At that, Choi Han’s eyes whipped up to meet his own in surprise and interest, before narrowing and turning away. “Don’t mock me.”

Cale scoffed, finding the whole situation ridiculous. He hated explaining himself in painfully obvious scenarios.
“I’m not. It’s the most logical solution. We’re both injured and the enemy patrols could come and find us at any minute. If I let you feed from me and regain your strength, you could easily take the both of us out of here.”
“Plus,” he added. “Do you really think I’d let a brute like you so much as touch me without good reason? Don’t be absurd.”

Though it had been many years since their last altercation, Cale couldn’t help but add the juvenile address, not quite having gotten over it.
Cale could see Ch’s finger twitch. “…and how do you know I wouldn’t just leave you here to rot after I fed from you?”

Another scoff from the redhead. “Oh please, you’re too good for that.Even if it wasfor a lout like me. Isn’t that right, Commander Choi? Or should I say, Hero?”
He shifted his gaze downwards, avoiding looking at the other male at all. Though it made no difference as his next actions forced his attention back onto him.

Choi Han heard the rustling of fabric in front of him, before an expanse of pale milky skin was in front of him.
He felt his mouth water.

His brain was abuzz, and Cale was so close when kneeling in front of him that he could individually see each strand of hair that trailed his nape.
“Besides,” Cale whispered, his breath brushing the side of Choi Han’s ear. “It’s a calculated measure. You don’t survive long in this war without taking a few risks.”

“Im sure you want to be here even less than I, so hurry it up, would you?”
With the permission granted, Choi Han’s restraint shattered.

He quickly swapped their positions and slammed Cale onto the wall he was leaning on, sinking his fangs into the pale expanses of his neck, paying little mind to the small grunt and hiss of pain from the smaller male.
And, oh, it was everything he thought of and so much more. The redhead’s blood was addicting, a deeply rich, smooth, and sweet flavor.
It was like the most delectable ambrosia (and vaguely, somewhere deeper in the more sane recesses of his mind, Choi Han wondered how such pleasant flavor could come from the crude man).

He savored in it, feeling himself sinking deeper and deeper with the feeling.
He felt the warmth course through his veins as his strength started to return, and with it, some parts of his sanity.

It was only then that he realized that there was a small pressing of a hand on his chest, trying with no avail to push him away.
As his hazy mind tried to process what had happened, a hand found its way into his hair and tugged, finally ripping his mouth away from Cale’s neck, tearing a small whine from Choi Han’s throat.

“Stop it.”
Coming to, Choi Han immediately felt a wave of guilt course through him, seeing the much more noticeably paler former noble beneath him trembling slightly.

“Ah, I’m so-“

“Shut it, brute.” Cale panted out, eyes lidded, his firm grip still in his hair. “…are you sated just yet?”
Slowly, he shook his head.

“If I went out with this much then I’d be back in the same condition as before in only a few hours.”

Cale scoffed out softly once more. “I figured as much. Take more then.”

Choi Han sat up more in alarm. “But if I do that you’ll-“
He was cut off.

“It’s fine. Just take some more. The sooner you’re full the sooner we can get out.”

With a deceptive gentleness he wouldn’t have expected from him (though in hindsight it was likely due to the blood loss), his head was puppeteered back to his neck.
The welling blood droplets glistened on his neck, still fresh from his feeding moments before

Choi Han felt his mouth begin to water once more at the sight, but before he could reach, the hand in his hair tugged once more, drawing a gruff of frustration from his throat.
“You’ll be going at my pace.”

Though only a few seconds had passed, Choi Han felt as if an eternity had happened in the span of time he was denied access to Cale’s blood.

Finally, blissfully, he was granted access back to the delicacy.
He delicately lapped at the droplets threatening to spill over, savoring the taste, softly groaning.

He nipped slightly at Cale’s neck, drawing a sharp inhalation out from the male, before softly licking the mark as if in apology.

It was dangerous.
With how addicting the taste was, it would be easy to get lost in it and lose himself.

Anytime he did, Cale tugged sharply at his hair with a hissed out “Behave, mutt.”, bringing him back to reality.

Eventually, he had to forcefully pull himself away from the bliss.
He was nowhere near being fully sated, but if he drank any more he ran the risk of actually killing the man.

Regardless, the amount he got would be enough to fuel him enough to get the both of them back to the safety of camp.
Cale was impossibly paler now, and much more visibly fatigued.

“…Are you finally sated now?”

“Yes.” He lied, staring anywhere but at a source of fresh blood.

Cale’s shoulders sank ever so slightly, muttering out a brief, “Good,” before passing out.
Choi Han grabbed at his arm in alarm, grabbing at his wrist and looking for a pulse.

He let out a breath of relief, only somewhat finding it ironic that he was glad to find the person he nearly killed years ago still alive.
Mentally berating himself for going too far, he shakily got to his feel, the limp Cale in his arms.

It was nightfall by now, and he slipped past enemy patrols through the shadows, narrowly avoiding interacting with any living being other than his unconventional passenger.
By the time they got back to the camp, the sun had barely started to rise over the horizon.

He haphazardly shoved Cale to the nearest medical tent he could find, needing to report back in.

-
Days later, a certain redhead woke back up on a stiff bed, covered in bandages and a small warmth on his left.

Sitting up and turning his head to the side, he was met with a rather peculiar sight.
Choi Han was in a chair next to his cot, seemingly having gotten tired and resting his head next to him.

‘Perhaps he wanted to talk about keeping his identity under wraps.’

He raised a brow in mild amusement. If he really wanted to talk, then he shouldn’t have fallen asleep.
Even if he did feel inclined to tell someone about it, he’d have to find a willing conversation latter first, then convince them he wasn’t mildly delusional. Itd be a trivial waste of time.

He huffed softly, rolling his eyes and laying back down.

They’d talk about it later.
