One more week until the worst Supreme Court term in modern history. And you thought last term was bad. This term is when they cement white dominance into law so hang on to your butts especially if they are non-white.
The Supreme Court could decide this term that bigots have a religious right to refuse service to LGBTQ people.
THIS term.
So the neo-Lavender Scare that has been going on has a purpose. It’s to whip up public sentiment against LGBTQ folks so people will be more complacent.
If you’re straight, cis, white, and Christian, boy howdy you are good to go though.
But seriously. If you’re cis, het, white, AND Christian? Take the day off and tell your boss to suck ittttttt, because you have got it MADE.
Unless you’re poor. In which case come on over to this side. They’re trying to kill us but we are still in high spirits.
Oh wait are you a woman?
You may think you have it made because the boys told you so to get your vote, but if you haven’t noticed, you became a second class citizen at the end of the last Supreme Court term, so come on over Linda. You’re just as fucked as I am.
Oh and this term the Court could decide that a state legislature can erase the will of the people and hand the election to their chosen Republican.
The Court could say what Trump tried to do—appoint alternate slates of electors for Congress to accept on Jan 6—is JUST FINE.
It’s not an exaggeration to say that this Supreme Court term could end democracy.
And in what is one of the worst cases on the docket, the Court is likely going to gut the Indian Child Welfare Act on equal protection grounds because white people feel entitled to strip Native American children from their families and tribes to assimilate them.
When asked why Clarence Thomas didn't list interracial marriage as one of the substantive due process rights that is on the line, Melissa had this to say:
This is racist and you should delete it. This is white Christian nationalism. It had absolutely nothing to do with the Taliban. How can we fight white Christian nationalism if people refuse to name it?
Abortion law in Afghanistan is less restrictive than in Ohio, btw.
So the doctor in Indiana who provided care to a ten year old rape victim is being investigated. And people are questioning why she couldn’t get an abortion in Ohio.
Follow along with @RewireNewsGroup as our stoic social media queen @anaghasrikanth live tweets the Oversight committee hearing on the impact of Dobbs on abortion rights an access.
i honestly turned it on and started hearing this dingaling talking about how Dobbs didn't ban abortion and I just can't. I can't with this gaslighting bs where they try to convince us that abortion is now just a states issue as if they're not going for a national ban. Assholes.
.@nwlc President and CEO Fatima Goss Graves is up.
This should be good. She's fantastic.
Later, Michele Goodwin is testifying. That should be excellent.
And also storytellers from We Testify. Alright alright alright.
I'll just watch the good people and mute the ding dongs.
