A long due thread on why #SathyamCinemas is(was) actually #Sathyam. It all started with the way how they curated the movie exprience. Will try adding more notes to this thread whenever possible.(1/n)

At Sathyam properties they tried to make it more like an end to end experience than watching just a movie. Still the words from the usher "Welcome to Sathyam Cinemas" still sounds like a very recent memory.(2/n)

"Machan naan Sathyam la padam pathen" used to be something to be cherished upon not that they were expensive than other theatres but just this simple sentence brings satisfaction filled with pride(3/n)

Starting with restrooms have never seen a more posh, clean restrooms before than in cinemas. Each urinals had a small display above where movie trailers used to be played and not to forget the hanging tap in escape propertied and the whirring sound of Dyson air blade (3/n)

Next comes the food everything is said about the pop corn, cold coffee and cream donuts some interesting insights. Sathyam back then was one of the first cinemas in India where they a michelin starred chef curate their culinary experience as Executive chef(4/n)

And some history of the pop corns once on a cinema convention folks from Sathyam chanced upon the stall of an American farmer-owned co-operative, Preferred Popcorn, that specialised in a variety of high yield corn.

Mr. Bhavesh Shah who was head of experinces at Sathyam cinemas was quoted telling "The next thing, I was on a flight to Nebraska. It was -18 degrees when I landed... too cold for anything to grow. But I learnt how everything worked and we negotiated our first-ever shipment."(6/n)

And even the seasoning was specially imported from Chicago. Kernel Season’s, a brand of popcorn seasoning.Despite higher costs to bring them to India, Shah stuck it out and brought them here.(7/n)

The personal connect customers have with the popcorn, he believes, is because “everyone has their own recipe”. “People become chefs at the seasoning counter. It’s like they all have a mental ratio. (8/n)

And touching up on some of their movie experiences. people who were in teens in 2010s would have sure known about "Blind Date". It is a show on Thursday 7PM where you won't know the movie name it can either be a very old film or even a premier of a film releasing on friday (9/n)

Adding to that S.E.N.S.E.S show for specially abled children where sound would be in minimal level and lights won't be completely turned off. DND where late comers and mobiles are not allowed. Intermission with Veena in Vienna playing in the background, Blur Gaming Zones (10/n)

And the other important thing their Audio and Video experience. They are the first in whole of the India to introduce #DolbyAtmos (no PVR, no INOX)way back in 2012. Their innovation and quest for technology paid off and almost every theatres now are joining Atmos bandwagon(11/n)

Their installation and callibration was top notch that during earlier days after installation Mr.Ioan Allen Academy Award winning sound technology producer was blown away by Streak screen at escape in 2013 and mentioned it as one of the best (12/n)

And back in 2012 every screen in Sathyam was HFR 48 FPS supported and they are first to introduce 4k DCI compliant projector 2.4k silver screen. Back then Sathyam movie tickets were even home delivered by SPI(13/n)

And not to forget that when they introduced online booking they realised the major crowd that visits theatre people in theirs 20s did not have access to credit cards back then and fuel wallet was introduced which can be refilled on theatre and used further for online txn(14/n)

stepping further back into history in 2005 , screen Sathyam and now defunct Sree screen were equpped with DLP Cinema, a digital projection system from Texas Instruments. With the upgrade,they became the first commercial cinema complex to adhere to Digital cinemas specs.(15/n)

And in 2005 As for the servers, one of the two screens will be equipped with the Qube Cinema server, developed by the Chennai-based Real Image. And Sathyam also became the first cinema complex in Asia to be fully digital with DCI compliant equipment.(16/n)

With so much effort, innovation and policies (right from starting shows on time to welcoming house keeping staff) it is kind of sad to see such great innovation not being valued by current crop 😢😢 Task : Next time try to count number of visible speakers in Main screen😜(17/17)
