Investing in sustainable transportation is climate justice. We must
🚌Invest in public transit to increase service quality & frequency. Eliminate fares
🚲Build & maintain a connected cycling and walking network

🛑No new roads or road expansion

We must simultaneously tackle the climate and housing crisis
🏘️Protect renters against green renovictions
🏚️Protect, preserve and grow the number of affordable housing
🏠Build net-zero affordable housing
🏕️Dedicate public land to community land trust

Planning decisions have major climate implications. We must
🛑Stop urban sprawl
🏙️Leverage zoning to build walkable, cycling-friendly, mixed-used neighbourhoods and missing middle housing
🎃Create & democratize public space

Food sovereignty is a crucial component of climate justice. We must
📑Commit to a Comprehensive Municipal Food Policy
🐓Increase opportunities for urban agriculture

Climate-resilient communities are accessible communities. We must
🚍 Fix ParaTranspo: ensure same-day booking and on-demand rides
🚕More accessible taxis
🦽Make the sidewalks and roads safe and accessible for everyone
🏘️Build accessible, affordable, inclusive, adaptive housing

There is no climate justice without racial justice. We must:
🚔Reallocate funds from OPS to fight systemic racism
💵Increase funding for Black-led orgs
📚Create resources for Black students and support hiring of Black educators
🌳Develop a greenspace equity strategy

Climate justice must centre Indigenous rights and sovereignty. We must:
🤝Continuous consultation and relationship building with the Algonquin Anishinaabeg and urban indigenous people and communities
💵Fund Indigenous-led services
🏞Create a Land Tax
