This NYT essay is interesting yet mind-blowing.

Mr. Ford describes himself as “Kentuckian by birth, Southern by the grace of God, Freemason and Shriner.” He is pro-life, pro-gun, pro-police, pro-wall and anti-tax, and told me “God sent Donald Trump.” And many thought God had. 🤷🏽‍♀️

In this district more than 40% of the people rely on Medicaid and many will lose their benefits with the #BigUglyBill

This quote from Mr. Coleman made me think of LBJ who said “If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you.”

🚨The Biden ACA subsidies (tax credits) are set to expire at the end of this year. Republicans likely will not extend them which means premiums will spike for 4.2 MILLIONS making coverage unaffordable. This will cause HARM.

Here is how R’s plan to gut the ACA…🧵

When Dems increased the ACA subsidies in 2021 from those 100% to 400% of poverty it allowed millions to join the ACA since coverage was cheaper.

Based on the below from CBO, if subsidies end people may no longer be able to insurance leaving them vulnerable.

KFF calculated how much premium would increase in every district if subsidies expired

First example 60 year old couple making $82k per year

Second is a single person making $31k per year

People will just go without insurance if their premiums go up.

Here is what I keep hearing men say without saying it:

They voted for Clinton, Obama and Biden because it gave them representation & they felt seen. Having a woman President and a male VP was not good enough.

I wish they would just be honest with themselves vs making excuses 🧵

Many women sadly think this way too. They can only see a man leading this country not a woman. No policies, outreach, dollars spent can shake that bias.

I think many sat out in 2016 & 2024 because they didn’t want a woman or Trump for pres., so they just didn’t bother to vote.

And some men and women voted for Kamala begrudgingly because they knew Trump was trash. It’s also why they wanted a mini primary to put her against a man to see if she could handle it. Ya know a test. 2024 was frustrating on so many levels and I am tired of the excuses.

New AP-NORC Poll:

“Democrats overwhelming still have a favorable opinion of their party, there has been as drop since last September (85% vs 70%).”

Losing + lack of opposition has people feeling negative.

So how do we to get people to feel more positive about the Dem party? 🧵

Here is a few ways:

-win elections like we did in PA, WI, and Omaha last night

-keep doing town halls, meet and greets and show the hell up. Building community is vital.

-take nothing for granted. Show up in blue cities and blue states. The base needs to feel seen & heard too.

-follow grassroots social media creators, and listen to them. many are more in-tune with voters vs national creators with large platforms.

-create a simplified values based platform, as well a policy vision for the future.

-oppose Trump but do it strategically

Reading this made me so mad. The struggle with the Gen Z vote, especially amongst white and latino men, is that “vibes”, fake machismo, and the liberty to say and do whatever they want will back fire on all of us.

Now that Trump’s approval is tanking where do we go from here🧵

Buyers remorse is real but in elections there are no take backs.

Even more frustrating is looking back at the 2024 youth vote.

Latino men what were you thinking, voting like white people will cause irreversible damage to your community.

And while Black and Asian men and Latino women voted for Kamala (over 60%) far too many voted for Trump.

So looks like Leaders We Deserve aka the Hogg PAC is also backing this candidate in the TX18 special election since he received a donation of $3500 per FEC.

There are 5 other Dems running in this race including Isaiah Martin & Amanda Edwards

Here’s why this is concerning 🧵

The DNC Vice Chair should not be donating to a specific candidate via his PAC when there are multiple Dems running. It shows favoritism and while there has been no public endorsement YET when it happens these other 4 candidates will speak up?

It wont be a good look for the DNC.

I understand that people back the premise of what Hogg wants to do but multiple things can be true.

1) How is he determining who is effective? Age? Years in office? Ideology? Pushback on Trump?

@2RawTooReal asked for specifics and never got a response 🚩
