Reading this made me so mad. The struggle with the Gen Z vote, especially amongst white and latino men, is that “vibes”, fake machismo, and the liberty to say and do whatever they want will back fire on all of us.
Now that Trump’s approval is tanking where do we go from here🧵
Buyers remorse is real but in elections there are no take backs.
Even more frustrating is looking back at the 2024 youth vote.
Latino men what were you thinking, voting like white people will cause irreversible damage to your community.
And while Black and Asian men and Latino women voted for Kamala (over 60%) far too many voted for Trump.
So looks like Leaders We Deserve aka the Hogg PAC is also backing this candidate in the TX18 special election since he received a donation of $3500 per FEC.
There are 5 other Dems running in this race including Isaiah Martin & Amanda Edwards
Here’s why this is concerning 🧵
The DNC Vice Chair should not be donating to a specific candidate via his PAC when there are multiple Dems running. It shows favoritism and while there has been no public endorsement YET when it happens these other 4 candidates will speak up?
It wont be a good look for the DNC.
I understand that people back the premise of what Hogg wants to do but multiple things can be true.
1) How is he determining who is effective? Age? Years in office? Ideology? Pushback on Trump?
@2RawTooReal asked for specifics and never got a response 🚩
Crazy that it’s 4 years later and the American people have allowed themselves to become more misinformed and less politically engaged
That 90M people sat at home & 77M voted for a convicted felon is insane
Americans will have to suffer AGAIN for people to get off their asses🧵
I have never put all my faith in Politicians or the Democratic Party to save us. They are just a means to an end for me.
But as I reflect back to 2020, voters showed up for Biden because of COVID, the Death of George Floyd, and they were just sick of Trump.
They had something to vote for and against.
COVID was hell, BLM was a movement, people were pissed and Trump was a menace. Biden had experience, VP gave us hope - voters showed up and we won. 1/6 was scary but we got through it.
Trump got impeached and the senate had a trial but he was NOT convicted.
Bill Clinton said this two days before election day in an interview with CNN.
What pisses me off is some Dems (majority white) are now trying to suppress how we speak and how we think to win white working class voters back. That’s BS 🧵
H/T .@magi_jay for sharing this with me
What we need to figure out is what do Democrats really stand for. Are you for equality and equity? Do you embrace diversity? Are you okay with standing up for the lgbtq community especially trans and non-binary people? Are you going to protect or abandon marginalized people????
The R party is beholden to Trump but Dems should be beholden to our values. R’s are punking Dem elected’s about “Wokeness” “DEI” & all this nonsense. Flip the narrative. When you stand up for us that is when a new coalition will form but right now too many seem scared of R’s.
The white-lashing we just took is a painful reality check. The post obama-era has been hell. Biden brought back sanity and calm but American’s love chaos and foolery.
In 2020 the Elders knew only Biden could take Trump out, and they were right 🧵
Biden resisted leaving the race because he felt he could beat Trump. He was “forced” out because of the debate, media frenzy, and his own party wanted a change (not me). He believed in his VP and passed the torch. Joe Biden did what he thought was best for the party. He is a good man.
I think VP did all she could to win with only 107 days but we have to accept that grievance politics, racism and misogyny is more appealing to some than joy and/or even policy. We are 0-2 w/ overly qualified women going against Trump. Majority of Americans wanted an incompetent male President.
The discourse is getting crazy, multiple things can true:
1) Biden is a great President! 2) He had a bad debate, Dems panicked 3) The media was ridiculous 4) Drop out brigade began but simmered 5) Pelosi’s Morning Joe answer was a 💣 6) Biden intended to stay in 7) He got COVID
8) While sick, drop out brigade continued, polls tanked 9) Nancy & them thought VP should be challenged if he dropped 10) Biden made the FINAL decision that Saturday, he dropped out Sunday 11) VP and Biden made calls, secured endorsements and the delegates
VP is the nominee!
Politics is like a bloodsport, very few are loyal.
Could Biden still have won? Yes!
Did the drop out brigade pressure to drop? Yes!
Was his campaign at full speed? It was okay but boring.
