On this 1st Oct 2021,we started to organise ourselves with the aim of giving a voice to ourselves,to denounce the ill-treatment that we received in Libya for so many years
At the end of this thread is an important announcement
1/22
During the first week of October, we suffered enormous pains, hunger and thirst and endured all sorts of humiliation when the @UNHCRLibya closed their doors in the face of the most needy people.
But we resisted and continued to be our own voices despite the difficulties.
2/22
On the 8th Oct thousands of those detained in Al #Mabani concentration camp went on a hunger strike, they escaped & arrived at our encampment in front of @UNHCRLibya headquarters.
In the course of freeing the concentration camp, dozens were shot dead and 100s wounded.
3/22
During the second week of our struggles, we wrote letters to institutions, governments, the @_AfricanUnion , @EU_Commission@Pontifex and all the international communities.
Our letters were and our cries were ignored but acknowledged only by few interested ones.

4/22
Here are links to letters which we wrote and distributed to all the relevant authorities and associations.
However, we still need your support to help those still in dire needs!
12/22
For 100 days, we taught our stories to institutions, journalists, governments, European members states, the @_AfricanUnion but instead we were met withal a complete ignorance of our sufferings.
Earlier this year, our protest got violently dismantled by the DCIM militias
13/22
After the protest got dismantled, the Libyan authorities and the #DCIM militias started hunting down the spokespersons of the movement.
Despite these challenges, we to resisted & protested in different ways while on the run.
14/22
On the 10th Jan 2022,more than 1000 people who were at the protest disappeared and only about 600 were reported by the Libyan authorities to have been held in #Ainzara
@UNHCRLibya however, secured the release of children and women leaving behind more than 300 to this day
15/22
In #Ainzara people resisted and continued to denounce their arbitrary detention, under inhumane conditions
Following the protest from inside the detentions, refugees who fled during the raids made a massive comeback to protest and call for the release of their comrades
After many months of humiliations and sufferings, people held in #Ainzara started taking their own lives through suicide.
In the earliest June, Mohammed a 19 year old refugee from Darfur couldn’t withstand the inhumane treatments, He therefore, Hanged himself to death.
18/22
Afterwards, the @UNHCRLibya started to secure the release of minors and women from the priso only to abandon them in the streets and once again awaiting torture by traffickers as an easy source of income.
MAZIN’s family have been abandoned by the @UNHCRLibya, they merely live and survive in the streets while Mazin is still held captive by the Libyan authorities.

RACISM TOWARDS BLACK AFRICANS IN LIBYA BY BOTH THE GOVERNMENT AND UNHCR LIBYA.
Today's incident which got one of our brothers stabbed and wounded by the security guards, came slightly after scrutiny of the mess that we have been living in and the RACISM 1/19
that we are subjected to. In recent years refugees have seen and complained against the trajectory of Syrian refugees indulged and pampered by the UNHCR staff.
Syrian Nationals or Arabs precisely do not take or wait in line when they come to the UNHCR office 2/19
both at the door and in the sitting rooms. They are usually allowed to enter ,and no security guards prevents them or stops them, UNHCR staffs & its security guards never told them stand in a line with the African refugees, we have been witnessing these racism since 2017 3/19
