Green Party has just passed Late motion Solidarity with Drag Queen Story Time/Hour. Couple of excerpts below - from synopsis & one of action points. #DQSH #GPC22 
Just to note a few points from debate. I spoke against motion on following grounds
👉 procedurally had not benefitted from full amendments & scrutiny process
👉 motion full of straw men, chiefly conflating far-right critics with others with justifiable concerns

👉 wider context being missed, one in which lifelong feminists such as @bindelj having to take council to court for debarring her from speaking on women's rights in library space. Why weren't we putting motions about this too?
👉 Enhanced DBS not necessarily inappropriate when DQSH agents themselves advocating for their acts to have these for optimum reassurance when performing to children.
👉 point I didn't get time to make is that these are not just "reading" events. Often involve an immersive, active, performative component intrinsic to their design which raises greater questions of age-appropriateness & has proved controversial in content.
Then followed series of points attacking me under "inclusion card". Let me address as didn't get means to respond.
a) Mentioning proposer by name was not to attack proposer but simply to reference text, esp when criticising use of "straw man" argument. But happy to drop name.

b) To address criticism that I ("as a man") didn't speak for someone, as a woman. I never professed to speak for her, or all women - but that shouldn't prevent me from calling out what I take to abuses of women's rights (my Bindel reference was appreciated despite my being man).
It's ironic that inclusion point was ad hominem (me being a man) following directly on from an inclusion point attacking me (I think unjustly) for being ad hominem.
Then we had a heartfelt plea from a member who felt excluded (also a woman) for not being able to freely express her viewpoint in that environment & feeling that she couldn't freely articulate any concerns she might have with motion

Finally we learned just as we were moving to a vote that some wanted a further round of speeches - but this was disallowed on grounds of time.
