What kind of lame-passive wording is that?

Did the entries fail because they were really ineligible - or because members-voters weirded-out? @officialnosc

These be the eligibility criteria below.

We are told "three epic films" were submitted.

It behoves @officialnosc at this point to state clearly the title of the three epic films submitted.

Then tell us how in your esteemed judgment they failed to meet eligibility criteria.

I've seen some people clutch at straws & stretch the argument and say the films must have decent subtitles as well. Very well, then please show us the films whose subtitles that were under par.

Not that every entry must progress -- but not even one?? If so, explanations please.

As many have noted, this is the same @officialnosc that put forward 'Lionheart' only for it to fail @TheAcademy language requirement. Some of us wanted it so bad for Nigeria we were defending the film. Now we have serious contenders that may not suffer the language pitfall. Why?

Some person said here a certain film was not good enough for Oscar. But @officialnosc is not tasked to decide what will definitely win. They are asked to put forward films that are #eligible for consideration for Oscar #nominations. Simple. Committee cannot be Rock of Gibraltar.

Have people seen trailers of films put forward by some other African countries? Friends who have seen those films in full assure me some titles are not even half as good as some of the potentials from Nigeria. @officialnosc can't be moving like the usual Nigerian s/elections pls.

I am calling bad faith. This is bad faith. Every member must consider very seriously why they voted in the manner they did. @officialnosc has to reassess its procedures, and a change of leadership. As with all Nigerian things, sit-tight leadership becomes Abacha like. It won't do

Then @officislnosc has the temerity to lecture us about how our films have "no doubt, improved significantly" and soon we'll be "bringing this award home in succession"?

What an absolute shambles. What a disgrace. This kind of thing thrives in silence, and there is too much silence and grumbling-only-in-the-corners in the Nigerian creative space. People, it's not only politicians we criticise and hold to account, we must question ourselves too.

There are atrocities happening in the creative space, film industry especially, and everyone just seems to roll on and roll with it. Stakeholders don't question, journalist don't write about it or seriously critique, it carries on. Everyone guarding their access to film despots.

How can something like this happen & no serious examination of it in the newspapers? No Twitter Space about it? And we have self-respecting professionals who write about film. What are we writing? The same PR puff for some over-hyped producer regurgitated in virtually all media?

I am breaking ranks. @officialnosc, you are totally discredited and you have been served. Your position and standing are hereby declared untenable. Your move. @TheAcademy
