We've just avoided a car crash with the Osun Festival. A private company of no known culture sector antecedents purported to think they had trademarked & copyrighted the 2024 festival and sought to make *everyone* obtain prior permission to take photos/videos at the festival. This Instagram video by @ifaseesinolosun was the first I heard of the controversy. To think you can 'privatise' in whatever guise a cultural festival of a river deity, that's the common heritage of millions of Yoruba people, a festival held in a Unesco WHS? It boggles the mind.

Tagging Nigerian Official Oscars Selection Committee @officialnosc & @TheAcademy as I call bad faith on the bungling of Nigeria's 2023 Academy Awards chances. I call on every member of the Committee to reconsider their positions because that shabby statement of theirs will not do "It turned out that none of [the films submitted] will advance to the next stage owing to the voting patterns of members."

What kind of lame-passive wording is that?

Did the entries fail because they were really ineligible - or because members-voters weirded-out? @officialnosc
