Single aisle #airplanes ✈️don’t have accessible toilets. It’s inhumane for disabled ppl to have to hold their bladder and bowels for any amount of time. On my flight home from Lihue, HI, total time to hold would be 8 hrs (7hr flight + 1hr board/offload). U try it. Good luck…
Thankful for my sis @meet_virginiaaa who was there to pick me up, transfer, and pull up my pants. We made it thru that tiny 24” door but scraping up my legs. Every person I watched on the flight turned sideways to barely make it thru the door. This isn’t just a PwD prob…
@meet_virginiaaa isn’t always with me and usually I travel solo. I’m not prod to say I made it 7hrs from SFO to LIH. I have to fast starting the night before and take anti diarrhea pills to stop everything. It stresses me out. I typically don’t eat or drink on the plane…
In order for me to get onto a plane, I’m transferred in a full body lift by 2 people into an aisle chair which fits thru the aisle and then again into my plane seat. I’ve been dropped, groped, bruised, scraped, and forgotten for over an hr. It’s rarely a pleasant experience…
My #wheelchair often gets battered n bruised. It’s been completely broken apart & left lying on the ground when returned. Damage can be hidden & doesn’t show until a week later. A ♿️ is not a piece of luggage that can be thrown around and mistreated. It’s my independence…
Getting my wheelchair fixed from the damage can vary 6-8 weeks. Often I have to use a backup chair which is not comfortable or suitable for all day use…
Reporting the experiences to the airlines gives me a credit and a sorry. It hasn’t fixed plane design or addressed the holistic issue. So I typically don’t report unless it’s truly awful…
How to be an ally for the #disability community starts w learning about barriers we as society create on marginalized communities. The air carrier access act allows for this mistreatment. With the current bathroom design we are prioritizing sales over human rights…
Join in on convos regarding making airplanes accessible with @USDOT. Tweet @SecretaryPete for accessible bathrooms like in ADA, to drive my wheelchair on board and stay in my chair the entire time. @MDAorg and @PVA1946 are orgs I’ve been following for this topic

A tale of Carden’s inaccessible #sidewalk travels going from 14th ➡️ @GoodwillIntl Northside. @CityofAtlanta lacks proactive enforcement & accountability. I’ve asked for change and have seen little to no improvements. Developers need to be fined. 1st a detour...🚧
Nothing about the detour in of itself is a problem just what lies ahead. I’m met w @VeoRideMobility in ROW and ripped up sidewalk where the boards are not on grade.
At the corner of 14th and Williams the sidewalk is completely closed. There’s no sidewalk on the opposite side and no accessible safe peds path of travel.
