On the #USWNT presser today and first up are Becky Sauerbrunn and Alana Cook who are now addressing the Yates investigation/report
Sauerbrunn: we, the players are angry that it took a third party to bring this to light, we're angry that it took an article from The Athletic, to bring this to light, etc (paraphrasing)
I sat down and read the entire report from Sally Yates' investigation last night. There's so much to breakdown but my overall thoughts are this:
Players placed their trust in teams and management that let them down time and time again.
No one had their backs and they were lied to continuously by those who're supposedly "there for them". US Soccer and the three owners/clubs named in the report are the most obvious people to focus on but it's not just them.
Soccer/football in the US and Canada is so interconnected that everyone who gets involved in the sport hears rumours about certain people all the time. What this report shows is that at varying points, not one person with the power to do so, stopped the rot.
