(1/7) @AamAadmiParty would do well in #GujaratElection2022 was given, but its prospects of forming a government were not fully convincing.
In the last two weeks, I got to travel to Gujarat (urban areas) and here are my discoveries. #Thread 👇
(2/7)
- The anger against @BJP4India (state & centre) is real and sharp. People are vocal (and fearless) about their disappointments with BJP.
- They don't trust @INCIndia, owing to its reckless supply of MLAs to BJP. Congress is seen as taking Gujarati's for granted.
(3/7)
- Gujarati's are seeking crisp and clear plans for the state. They seek action oriented-ness and not sloganeering.
- With a viable and credible option in AAP the Gujarati's are considering change seriously.
(4/7)
- The higher middle class, not affected by the economic fluctuations, sticks to BJP. It has an apathetic view of politics.
- Gujarati's experience fatigue of Modi's charades and lack of delivery. Modi is now predictable and unconvincing.
(5/7)
- BJP has nothing to offer to the young aspirational Gujarat. Youth stand to dump BJP.
- Material and services are running out of an average Gujarati's affordability.
- A thinking Gujarati feels insecure about finances and vocational aspirations.
(6/7)
- AAP appears to tick all checkboxes across demographies.
- Women are more sorted in their head in favour of AAP. They consider Modi's charades (triple talaq, section 370, etc.) as worthless.
- Gujarati women demand more cogent and gratifying actions.
(7/7)
- AAP's guarantee oriented governance approach is finding resonance.
- Gujarati's eagerly await AAP's CM face declaration. A significant no. of fence-sitters will take sides once this is made public.
- AAP is a central subject in most Gujarati household discourses.
