Wei Wuxian was sitting under a tree, whistling a familiar lullaby when he heard the child’s laughter in the distance.
He got up slowly, following the sweet noise coming from the back hills where the kid was playing.
A-Yuan was planted in the ground, his cute face coated with mud here and there, a few leaves were stuck in his hair and his hands were no better.
He watched him as he scooped the damp earth in his tiny little hands and made one mudball after the other onto the muddy grass.
He stretched his legs and spine before letting himself stroll towards the kid. "What are you doing there little radish?"
"I'm making mooncakes for my jiejies and geges."
"Mnnn, I see." Wei Wuxian smiled, "So they can grow tall and strong to play with you?"
"Yes!" A-Yuan laughed cheerfully, showing his adorable gap-toothed smile to him.
Wei Wuxian burst out in laughter. "Okay radish, I know you're having fun in the dirt but it's time to clean up and prepare to sleep, it's getting late."
A-Yuan shook his little head feverently. "No! Not going!"
Wei Wuxian raised an eyebrow at this, kneeling down to face him and gently cleaning the grime and dirt from his little face with the ends of his sleeves, before cupping A-Yuan’s small chin in his hands.
“Hush, don't pout, we can play more tomorrow, okay?” Wei Wuxian smiled, pinching his cheek with his thumb and index finger. A-Yuan pouted even more, narrowing his eyes at him. “Now is time for bath and sleep.”
“Xian-gegeee, you’re so mean!” He whimpered.
“What?! I’m not mean, you’re mean!” Wei Wuxian chuckled, a three year old kid shouldn't look that menacing.
A-Yuan unconsciously raised his muddy hand to his mouth but Wei Wuxian stopped him right in time. "Haven't we talked about this, A-Yuan?"
The child whined, displease, his tiny pout quivering dangerously. "No sucking fingers before washing hands."
"That's right, don't put your hands in your mouth before washing them properly, good boy." Wei Wuxian ruffled his hair. "Now, let's go."
"Only if gege catches A-Yuan!" A-Yuan exclaimed before running off giggling.
Wei Wuxian smiled at the small bundle of cuteness before running after him.
"Nooooo!"
"Yeeeees!"
"No gege, no!!!!"
"You better run radish because Xian-gege is getting closer!"
"WHAAAA—????!?!"
He picked the boy up by the armpits and lifted him over his head, sitting him on his shoulders. "Bath!"
"NO!" A-Yuan tried to squirm away, throwing a futile tantrum.
"Yes!"
He gasped as A-Yuan splattered his neck and face with the dirt on his little hands in retaliation.
"Wha— You didn't!?!!? No! Don't touch my face with these hands! You little rascal!" He put him back on the ground and A-Yuan rolled around laughing delightedly, his big doe eyes squinting against the setting sun.
“Oh, that’s it. You have done it young man. Your punishment is tickles.” Wei Wuxian quickly grabbed him by the hips and tickled his sides.
“Look at you, all dirty and smelly, what will rich-gege think about this when he comes back, huh?”
“I'm not smelly! I'm not smelly!”
"Of course you are!"
A-Yuan's giggles filled the whole place, he shrieked so loud Wen Qinq yelled at them.
Wei Wuxian's gaze softened. He crouched in front of him, chin in hands and both elbows on his knees as the child peered at him with bright eyes. "Are you done now?"
"Mn..." He hummed. "Okay..."
"Okay." Wei Wuxian repeated.
With only one arm, he wrapped the boy and lifted him over his shoulder like a little sack of potatoes. A-Yuan kicked his ankles lightly as Wei Wuxian rose and went to the back mountains with him, where a once lost hot spring was hidden.
They bathed together, playing around and splashing each other, until their hands were shriveled and their arms were sore.
The sun was slowly starting to dip into the horizon when Wei Wuxian carried the boy back to his cave.
He fed him and brushed his tiny teeth the best he could with the things he had available before crawling into bed next to him.
He reached over and blew off the only candle he had around.
He watched the few stars dotting the sky, hidden by the boughs of the trees as A-Yuan slowly dozed off.
“A-Yuan, if you're sleepy why don't you go to sleep, uh?” Wei Wuxian asked softly.
“m not sleepy.” The boy said, his voice cracking at the mere thought of having to sleep, he wanted to stay with his xian-gege a little bit more.
"Want to hear a bedtime story?"
A-Yuan’s face lit up in excitement in the same second. "Yes!"
Did he even know any stories?
"There was once a man... a hero."
"A hero?"
"A hero." Wei Wuxian hummed. "He was made of light. He was loved by many, both for his kindness and his strong sense of justice."
"One night, a kingdom started a war, and the one who suffered most was the hero." Wei Wuxian caressed A-yuan's head tenderly. "He was locked in a stone cave and forced to fight a big monster, he won, but when he came back home, he had lost his baba."
"His baba?"
"Mn, and his brother had disappeared as well, the hero was all alone."
We're always writing about Lan Wangji's everlasting love and devotion, but what if…
What if he had killed Wei Wuxian instead?
This will be a short Brother bear AU. I'm writing as it goes, please bear with me, I'll have to pause it a few times.
tw: MCD, angst, hopeful ending.
Lan Wangji resented foxes, he hated them, not because they're spiteful creatures or something, but because they're natural hunters and they kill for fun, especially this one fox, who had the habit of breaking into his rabbit's hutch in the dead of night.
His rabbits — His mother's rabbits, they were more than pets, they were the last thing his mother had left him after her death, the last memory he had of her.
And having a fox, of all things, killing them every now and then, well, that wouldn't do.
"Once a vampire falls in love, they are bound to that love eternally."

The clicking of his keys clattering against the paper was the only sound echoing in the room as Wei Wuxian typed on his old, well used typewriter.
Clack-clack-clack
He took a sip from his Merlot as he wrote another heartfelt line on the yellowed paper, stopping only to return the carriage to its correct place with a quiet 'ding' before continuing to write.
Clack-clack-clack
He played with the cup of wine in his hand as his eyes strayed to the red envelope on his desk.
He had received a strange invitation to a masquerade that afternoon, but not only that, the invitation stated that his presence was required at any cost.
After their little playtime in the woods and a traumatized little apple, they walked nonstop all night, unable to properly fly on Bichen because of the donkey following them a few steps behind.
In the afternoon, they mapped out the route for their next path and after some walk, they stopped in front of an inn in Hangzhou, one of the small territories around Caiyi Town.
Wei Wuxian watched outside as the villagers walked in and out of the tavern across the street,
Mo Xuanyu was sitting crosslegged on the couch, he had a mug filled with hot chocolate in one hand and his phone in the other, mindlessly checking on his instagram while Xue Yang was sitting on the other end, probably playing whichever game was his new obsession when
His long hair was a tangled, wet mess and his eyes were red and puffy and just as wet as the rest of himself. His once immaculate and carefully done eyeliner was now marred by tears, and his usually confident smirk was completely gone.
