Lots of chatter tonight about this @AP story on #OHSen candidate @TimRyan (D) and $27,000 in campaign donations he has received since 2007 from "drug distributors blamed for key roles in the [opioid] crisis."

Dems criticizing it; GOP sharing it widely.
The report states that over @TimRyan's 20-year career in Congress, $27,000 of the $50+ million he has raised in campaign donations have come from three drug distribution companies that have helped fuel the opioid epidemic.
The @AP report mentions that throughout the #OHSen race, @TimRyan has criticized @JDVance1 (R) for an opioid-focused nonprofit he launched that didn't end up accomplishing much...and involved a doctor with ties to Big Pharma.
Democrats, including @TimRyan's advisers and staffers, immediately criticized today's @AP report, arguing the donations are a drop in the bucket of Ryan's career fundraising.

They call the story a false equivalency to the @AP report about @JDVance1's now-shuttered nonprofit.
After the @AP report about @TimRyan came out today, Republicans, including @JDVance1's advisers and allies, pounced on it.

Vance even appeared on @seanhannity's show this evening and mentioned the story.
The opioid epidemic remains a serious crisis in Ohio, so it will be interesting to see what voters make of this @TimRyan story and the older @JDVance1 story.

The #OHSen race will be decided in less than five weeks.

#OHSen candidate @JDVance1 (R) is hosting a fundraiser on Monday at the Clyde, Ohio barn of Bill Frankart, who was in Washington on Jan. 6, 2021.

"It’s been quite an experience here in Washington DC today," Frankart wrote on Facebook, as he posted photos near the U.S. Capitol. ImageImageImage
Frankart is an Adams Township Trustee who's running for a spot on the Seneca County Board of Commissioners.

He liked several comments on his Jan. 6th Facebook post, including one that said, "Good for you Bill it’s about time people stood up and said enough is enough !!" Image
More comments on Frankart's Jan. 6th Facebook post that he liked:

"If Biden was still having his parade the riot should have happened on that day"

"Todd wants to know was it you sitting in the speaker’s chair lol"

"you seen me 😂," Frankart replied. ImageImage

This evening, #OHSen candidate @JDVance1 will hold a rally with Florida Governor @RonDeSantisFL in Northeast Ohio.

It's part of a @TPAction_ tour that's bringing DeSantis, a potential 2024 presidential candidate, to Ohio, Pennsylvania and Arizona to campaign for GOP candidates.
In the lead-up to the event, @TPAction_ has been criticized for its (not OK) rules for press.

Reporters "will have to agree to give organizers access to any footage they take, and could face questions about what it will be used for."

Via @jeremymbarr:
It's no accident this @JDVance1/@RonDeSantisFL event is happening in Ohio's Mahoning Valley.

Vance's opponent, @TimRyan, is from there and currently represents it in the House.

And DeSantis has family roots in Youngstown, where his parents met.

Trump turned the region redder.

As summer winds down, the #OHSen race is heating up...and remaining closer than Republicans would like.

Some criticize @JDVance1's summer strategy, while begrudgingly complimenting @TimRyan's.

Lots of $$$ about to flow in.

What's keeping the #OHSen race competitive in red-leaning Ohio?

@TimRyan (D) has outspent @JDVance1 (R) 8-1 on TV ads this summer, out-fundraised him 4-1 last quarter, and seemingly has been out-working Vance on the campaign trail with more events.
Lots of reporting packed into my latest #OHSen piece ⤵️

Ohio Rep. @Jim_Jordan (R) has sent a letter to the @January6thCmte explaining he will not cooperate with the panel's investigation.

"...I have no confidence that the Select Committee will fairly or accurately represent any information I could provide..."
This is not surprising, given Rep. @Jim_Jordan's consistent criticisms of the @January6thCmte.

When I asked Jordan last November if he would cooperate with the panel if it asked for info, he told me, "Depends what it is."

Right before Christmas, the @January6thCmte asked Rep. @Jim_Jordan to voluntarily meet for an interview to discuss several things ⤵️

Jordan is the second sitting lawmaker the committee requested to meet with. @RepScottPerry has also declined.
